I was thinking what the fans would do. I imagine the outrage would be pretty significant.

i remember alcohol and sexual misconduct going on during overnight band trips in high school! we didnt have hazing tho, so maybe thats why our chaperones looked the other way. or maybe its cause the chaperones (aka parents) were in their rooms particpating in their own alcohol and sexual misconduct sprees. :hihi:

There was a small thing 5-10 members were told they could quit or sit on the sidelines for the rest of the season including Pre-game because of incidents on the Tennessee trip. Basically doing stupid stuff in shirts that identified them as LSU Band Members. That's how I got into Pre-game my freshman year.

On a side note, it must have been really bad in 89 because 18 was still legal then and we used to hear stories passed down in KKPsi about how they used to sell beer instead of soft drinks as their fund raiser on the buses. I also heard stories of kegs on the Tuba bus but alas, the only things I know from first hand account stories of were in the early 90's when they had the pre-season party their were kegs and then on Friday nights there was usually a beer truck in the Band Hall parking lot delivering a few kegs after friday practice.

I never heard stories of Golden Girls, but I know for sure that their were female band members sleeping with the troopers. But hey, they are adults and its their business who they sleep with.

Hmmm...the kegger was practically a given at any and all parties on campus in the late 80's-early 90's when I was at LSU. We wouldn't have dreamed of throwing a party without having plenty of kegs available. I suppose that's no longer the case?

They're still called JUMAS, no? They had several gallons of vodka and orange juice on the bus, many fifths of various alcoholic beverages, they were well equipped to say the least. It was a pep band trip to Ole Miss. The trip to Auburn in '89 was a full band trip, I stood outside the hotel in Montgomery and watched several Golden Girls get into State Police cars about 8-9pm the Friday night before the game. I have no idea where/what they were doing, coulda been perfectly appropriate for all I know.

Well, JUMAS isn't what it used to be but as far as I know they still try and put it on their section shirt every year. Doesn't surprise me that it was "JUMAS" that got in trouble though. It was some of the TUBAS who instigated in 2001 as well. As for the GGs, I was only refering the years I was in band 2001-2004. I'm not saying it never happened, I am just saying as far as I heard, it wasn't going on during my years, and there was plenty of word passed around about who was visiting the troopers rooms on trips.

I'm not sure if this is the same story he's referring to, but when the drinking age was 18, the band department used to order kegs and have them delivered to the band hall (I thought the story was that the kegs were for after the games, but maybe I'm wrong).

At the one such party I attended 8 kegs were polished off in 4 hours, not very impressive considering there were probly 300+ in attendance. I don't recall any kegs after games.
