Come on....the complaints are always about a phantom facemask.....even Mr. Castavez called it that. Non-calls over motion or off-sides are hardly refs throwing a game. It happens multiple times in just about every game. And it was the right guard, not the left. Watch the replay....it would have been a lame call because your left tackle was moving too. Besides, even if the play had been called dead, it wasn't 4th down, it was 3rd. A field goal would have won it but we ended up scoring a TD.
Never said they threw the game....they missed an obvious call (defense can move prior to the snap remember) that could have had significant implications. As to SC kicking a FG, that's the problem because we drove down the field and were in position to kick a FG but had to go for the end zone. In truth none of this matters because it's over but no one can doubt we were outmanned and played the Trojans off their feet. You were lucky to win. BTW you said we had seven who went one to the NFL, you had as many who were first round selections plus how many more who made the league.
Didn't 'grab' it . Hand passed on it. Close call should not have been called. Ref was looking to bail em out. Kinda what we face every year vs Gumps. Also that was grounding.
Anyways folks great game. Gotta put up there with vs Notre Dame 71? Ole Miss when Archie had broken arm and Ole Miss Jones to Davis (set your clocks back) lol.
I was in the student section for Jones to Davis. The place exploded. I missed the extra point because people were pounding on my back and everyone was hugging and screaming with people they didn't know. It was electric. I still remember the thrill. Thats Tiger Stadium Saturday night.
That was probably the most intense game I've been to in Tiger Stadium. (BTW, I was the Tiger Band "Pre-Game" Bass Drummer for that game)
