We are currently sitting at #4 in the polls behind Oklahoma, Alabama, and Missouri. Oklahoma plays #5 Texas in Dallas, Alabama is idle, and Missouri plays against unranked but tough undefeated Oklahoma State. And of course we are going to the Swamp to play #11 Florida. Assuming all playing win, do we climb the polls? That will give us two wins against ranked opponents on the road. I would say we would jump Missouri since I still feel the jury is out on them. Both undefeated, if Texas beats Oklahoma, do they take an Alabama jump and replace Oklahoma at #1? Also, if we lose, where do we drop? USC lost to a 1-3 Beavers team and droped to #9. I say we would probably drop to #12.
If we win, we vault to #2 in the nation. There is no arguing that. Two road SEC wins against top 10 or near top 10 opponents. If we lose and it's a close one like most suspect, LSU falls to #7, one spot ahead of USC at #8 (given all other teams win in the top 10 except Texas). Florida would vault to #6. 1. OU 2. Mizzou 3. Bama 4. Penn State 5. Texas Tech 6. Florida 7. LSU 8. USC 9. BYU 10. Georgia Texas would be #10 if it's a close loss to OU. Remember, we're very nearly #2 in the USA/Coaches poll. And in Harris, we are #2.
If LSU, Mizzou and Texas wins, I believe the polls will look like this: 1) LSU 2) Texas 3) Mizzou 4) Bama 5) Penn State 6) OU 7) Texas Tech 8) USC 9) BYU 10) Georgia
Our win against Allbarn is moot. They are nowhere NEAR a top ten team...shouldn't even be Top 25. We say the same about Bama over Clempsun...and we're right...but we can't have our cake and eat it too.
I can admit that Auburn was overrated, but we aren't the ones that rose from outside the top 25 to the number 2 spot in .1 seconds. Sidenote: we were breaking in a new QB at Auburn. That's my only excuse.
Honestly I HATE to defend Alabamer, but you guys haven't exactly crushed a top 3 team on the road this year. Their Clemson win is comparable to your Auburn win. With that said, kill them this year please. :thumb:
First of all, looking at UGA's body of work, they are nowhere near a top 3 team. Secondly, I mentioned in my last post that I can admit Auburn was overrated. Difference is, we started the season ranked high, Bama came from outside the top 25. The love they received seems to be premature at this point.
