Just saw a post that Williford suffered a concussion today at practice during a pile up and was unconcious for 5 minutes? Any word on this?
LSU starting left guard Josh Willifordsuffered a concussion during Thursday's morning practice, a source close to the program confirmed. The injury could be career threatening for Williford who missed the Tigers final seven games in 2012 with a concussion. Williford, a 6-foot-7, 334-pound senior from Dothan, Ala., was unconscious for about five minutes after a pileup during a team portion of practice. Williford played right guard last year and moved over to the left side last spring when La'El Collins was shifted from left guard to left tackle. Williford has played in 31 games with 19 starts and is the only senior starter on the offensive line this season. He suffered his first concussion in the second quarter of the Florida game when he was blindsided on an interception return and his head hit the turf. Williford missed the remainder of the season but was full speed for spring practice. This comes from Klienpeter.
Wish him the best and sure hate he is out. Lots of life ahead for that young man and hope there is no long term side effects.
In the current climate of head + brain function issues & related long term injury his return would not be without serious risk to his overall permanent health.
Hoping for a full recovery. Hopefully, he can come back. But, if not, may be have much success outside of football. I appreciate his contribution to Tiger football.
