Im definitely inclined to agree with that as well. Our last class was way better than how they ranked the class. Just look at the impact of Patrick Peterson, Ryan Baker and some others.
In terms of pure numbers, if Ferrell leaves, he will be replaced with a 4 or 5 star player. From that angle, LSU's class will improve, actually.
It doesnt bother me if Ferrell leaves. He is one of the ones I least mind de-committing or looking elsewhere. LSU does need some big time LBs though.
I think Ferrell is just another average/ok LB, much in the same way we have recruited LBs these past several years (Riley, Sheppard). Not terrible, but nothing special. We need to get some impact LBs.
No one really knows at this point what a high school players potential impact will be. What we do know is that as far as LBs go in this class, he is rated as one of the best. I hope he maintains his committment, works hard, and becomes a great Tiger defender.
I am not sure what your scale is regarding "one of the best". He's pretty far down the list of the best LBs in this class. If you're rating him against every high school LBer in the country, this yes he is one of the best.
Well, i don't think this is supposed to be a great LB class to begin with, but he is, I think, a top rated LB from what I read. I think the best description of him I have read was on ESPNs 150 site. Perhaps, you are right and he will just be "okay", but it is so hard to say at this stage of the process is what I am trying to say.
