4 star LB Willie Ferrell will announce his college decision Monday at 2:00 PM EST. A Rivals guy with close connections to the Florida recruits says he thinks LSU fans will be happy with the announcement.
6-2, 222 OLB this kid has phenomenal vision on where the ball is being played. He seems to fill the gap before it opens and covers the ball with allot of patience. He is certainly a non-pressure run killer with great upper body strength on the tackle. I wonder if his patience can keep up with the SEC speed. He could be a fine Tiger.
The only thing that worries me is the absence of offers from other upper tier programs. However, I trust the coaches, and I'm assuming they see something in him that others don't.
I've heard he's not very fast, which may be why he doesn't have many big time offers. I'll certainly be happy if Ferrell commits, but there are other LBs out there that I'm higher on at the moment (such as Bostic).
He is being courted by Alabama, USC, tOSU, FIU, UCLA, and LSU. I would say his offers would come after his camp performances, where he has committed to three. The only thing I didn't see in his films would be any drop back pass coverage. Films focus primarily his abilities on the line.
The guy has made over 200 tackles in two seasons, that's pretty impressive. The coaches evidentally like him a bunch if they are going to accept his commit this early in the process and with all of the other supposed studs we are in on.
He is expected to make his announcement today at 3:30. His final four are LSU, Maryland, South Carolina and Illinois. He said determining factors were the School of Business in which he plans to major, the type of defense and location. The linebacker stated that he made his decision two weeks ago. He is being recruited for LSU by Coach Josh Henson. Let's keep our fingers crossed. We need a couple of more linebackers.
I would like to extend a heary welcome to our newest Tiger, Mr. Willie Ferrell. In the mold of another Ali Highsmith, I assure you Tiger fans will be very happy with this young man in the years to come. 2:30 is just a formality.
