Multiple sources have pointed out that Keiland does not have the trust of the coaching staff to do what's asked of him in regards to being a complete running back. It's been all over this site and the radio. Now do you see?

Shyrone and Addai were above JV on the depth chart but were injured. Please try not to post misleading statistics, thanks.

It's well known that JV approached Saban before the season and showed attitude about wanting to have a certain number of carries, not to mention him being out of shape due to being a frequenter of many fine establishments around BR.

A sixth reason I love the multiple-RB thing is that it is a LOT easier for opposing DCs to game-plan against one RB than it is for him to game plan against a multiple-back system. I like believing that what LSU offers is so traumatic to opposing DCs, that it is remarkable that they don't commit suicide because the trauma and stress is just too unbearable.

I agree the change of pace makes it less simplistic for DC's to preach for example, that our RB is a cutback runner and don't over-run the play. But on the flip side it makes it easier on the defense to narrow down what play is about to be called. Our tendencies to run certain plays when certain RB's are in the backfield are undeniable. Last year we ran the middle screen with Scott. We ran the misdirection pitch wide with Keiland. If Holliday entered the game, the ball was usually going to him around the end. We sure as hell weren't leaving him in to pass protect. If Hester lined up as the FB, there was a good chance that he was getting the ball vs. when Quinn Johnson was the fullback. All I know is that I was calling out what we were running before it was run half the time depending on our personel by the end of the season. We did mix it up quite well in the championship game though, using our tendencies against Ohio State and tricking them. Hopefully, Crowton continues to add more and more variations so that we are very unpredictable no matter what backs are playing.

I was thinking the same thing...having one back that does it all would make our offense that much more unpredictable. This year, I'm thinking that our main three backs have somewhat similar styles, even if some have more strenths than the others. Scott and Murphy, especially Murphy, should be able to break it to the outside just as easily as KW this year....and with any luck, KW will learn where the hole is a little better. He found it once or twice last year, and this year our O-Line is better. We'll see.

If QJ proves to be any kind of ballcarrier, maybe we'll see him lined up next to holiday or Williams. Then Hatch can fake pitch to the speedster and send QJ to smash up the middle.

    Ok

    Ok

Carey and Addai got injuried, Vincent steps in and has a superhero season. If KW does get beat out by CS and RM next year, and both CS and RM get injuried, do you think KW will "have the trust of the coaching staff to do what's asked of him in regards to being a complete running back," or will we have to really on someone else?

...and he was still a top 3 back for LSU that year, getting 76 carries, almost as much as Addai, and many more than Carey or Hester. Do you think KW is going to be in the mix as one of our top 3 backs next year, or has his progression flattened out so badly in comparison to CW and RM that he is going to be used more like a reserve?

3 years ago I was soooo tired of people saying that they guessed at least half the plays that I made an offer to attend a game with them or watch on TV. We would keep track of all the guesses and what was actually run. The only plays we didn't count was 3rd and more than 8 yards to go. If they guessed right half the time I paid for all the food and beer, if they were under 50% they paid. 4 people took me up on the offer during the course of the season and none came close to 50% with the best being around 15%.

So, if you want to watch a game or two together I'd be happy to try it again.

I agree. On BuckeyePlanet, in the run-up to the game against them, there was this thread on how to game-plan against LSU. And one of the LSU guys said that if it is this back, expect this, if it is this back expect this, if it is this back, expect this, and if it is this back expect this. While I found it enjoyable to read and it made me chuckle, I didn't think anybody believed it.

glad to see you are now seeing reason.

    fixed

I'm only posting these things because I can see that a lot of folks are upset that Keiland didn't get the ball more and evidently isn't going to see a ton of carries this year based upon what is being reported by the media sources. If you recall in the SECCG he whiffed on a blitz pickup that caused RP to fumble and didn't play again during the game.

    murphy video.

check out the run at the 1:30 mark. impressive.

also which corner/safety did he run over at the 2:06 mark. francois maybe.

may run a little too upright to last an SEC slate as an every down back though. he looks a lot like harvey williams.
