I figured clair would know. Hey, I'm not saying my idea is actually going to work in the game. More, just shooting the possibility out there of giving the defense different looks. Technically speaking, the formation isn't that far out there. I basically just changed a true WR for a slot one. Heck, look at the pro set that some NFL teams use (i.e. saints). Actually, it's quite interesting because if you look at the make up of LSU, they have the players (if our QB pans out) to run an offense very similiar to the saints. I'd have to think that our strength right now is at RBing over WR's (though not by a huge number). Hence the reason for that look. Maybe I'll take this discussion into another thread though, on the more technical aspects of football. I will say I've always been high on Scott and like CP have felt KW had potential just, seemingly not able to fully tap into it. I'm glad to hear Scott is stepping up.
Modern defenses are too quick and smart for a full-house backfield, except for the Power-I in short yardage and even then the three backs are going to be two fullbacks and a tailback. We have to spread the field to give the RB room to operate and to make the pass a threat on every down.
Agreed. The only way all three would ever be on the field is if Keiland is talback, Scott fullback and Murphy in the slot, which he did a few times this past season.
Sounds very explosive to me. And with the recievers and OL we have.....combined with a smart decision making quarterback and crowton's knowledge who can stop all those weapons???
Yeah. That was the idea I had. lol. Murphy in the Slot, Keiland as our RB, and Scott as our Fullback. Granted my chart is really sucky (and a little off. I intended for Murphy to be lined up between Byrd and Dickson . . .hence, slot) In that formation we could put either Murphy on the line or Dickson, as well as have either Scott or Keiland go in motion. If we wanted to make it really tricky we could motion KeilandScott to the weakside pulling a defender . . .Who's the better catcher of the two? I assume Scott is.
Exactly. Keiland came in as a very talented RB. The problem is, he's still the same RB he was as a recruit while the others are growing into better players.
I disagree. No one on our team has more highlight potential perhaps, but we have better RB's. How can you call a guy who can't read a hole & goes down easily the best pure RB we have? That's not to mention the other aspects of being a RB like holding onto the ball, receiving & blocking...
I have to say...I happen to agree with you about KW's lack of hitting the hole, lack of blocking ability, and going down easier than some other guys. BUT..... Will someone PLEASE explain the constant knocks about fumbling?? Is this something he does in practice?? Has he ever lost a fumble so far in his career?? I just get so tired of hearing that the reason Hester got all the PT last year was because he never fumbled. No doubt, Hester was great at holding on to the ball...as well as all the other aspects of the game...but I'm quite certain he lost 1 more fumble in his career than any current LSU back. Can anyone clarify? Disprove?
