I probably won't. I wouldn't even be able to look at myself if I voted for Vitter. I wonder how church going people actually muster enough courage up to vote for Vitter.
Well, I don't go to church, so I don't have to worry too much about the foci of attention from avid churchgoers. I hope you will vote, as voter apathy is part of the reason DC is as screwed up as it is. As far as looking at myself in the mirror, I do every chance I get
bingo. i may have mentioned this in another thread, but one time when i was out campaigning several years ago, i started to had a brochure to a man walking by. he pushed it aside telling me "i dont vote. i dont want to be held responsible." it was all i could do not to tell him he was the problem and then shove a brochure down his throat or up his ass. but that wouldnt have reflected very well on the person i was campaigning for so i just tried to smile and go on. i absoloutely hate that attitude.
As do I. Far too many people of my generation take it up and don't pay attention to anything except tabloids and TV. When they finally manage to put down the I-phone and speak, they sound so idiotic that it makes my head nearly explode.
I said I probably won't vote because I have a choice between an immoral person and a Democrat. There may be another choice by time voting occurs who knows. But it's the idiotic public who keep these people in power and I won't support that. I agree people that don't vote because they don't want the responsibilty are idiots just as much as the idiot who votes for the lessor of 2 evils.
Call me an idiot then. We as a society created the need to vote for the lesser of two evils because we refuse to follow a basic set of guidelines on how to live, and instead worry about supposed issues that are trumped up and played like a broken record by the media. The politician seeking to win an election, today, has to fabricate an image of himself that he must stand "unwavering" on numerous topics and hope that he doesn't aggravate a majority of people. Or he could simple say the right things when his past indicates that he doesn't believe any words spewing out of his mouth, as we saw in the last election. But until we come to the conclusion that there are some basic stances that have to be upheld, and there is a condensed list of other issues that we may debate over and over again until our the horse is driven miles under the earth, then we can worry about the candidate that is 100% in line with our views. As that is unlikely to happen, I'll remain an idiot.
if you only have dumb and dumber to choose from, you still have to choose. if you dont vote just because you dont like either, that is no different from the person who doesnt want to be held responsible. imo, it's akin to picking up your toys and going home.
It is virtually impossible to find a candidate to agree with you on every issue. And then multiply that by each member of congress. Everyone is forced to prioritize what is most important to them and then find the candidate that best fits their issues. Sometimes you are forced(through lack of options) to pick the candidate that will hurt you the least. If you can't do that, then you should put your $ where your mouth is and run for office. Thinking that you can go through life not picking the lesser of two evils is funny. Really funny.
Vitter is a disaster. i won't vote for him because he's bought and paid for by special interests and is a political ideologue who puts party before Louisiana's best interests. Women won't be voting for him because he's an unrepentant whoremonger who hires women-abusers on the taxpayers money.
It is not responsible to vote for a terrible candidate just because the other candidate is marginally more terrible. I almost always end up voting for an independent. How is that different than not voting? I too think I am sitting this one out.
