So far, JJ looks really good and JL looks like JL. At least we know our starter is ready. Only one thing left to do. Kick Husky Arse!

How about it, tirk? Can you live up to the hype surrounding you? (whatever that is...)

    You're not paying attention.

I'm just not obsessed with Jarret Lee like he was Benedict Arnold or something. I've watched this team for 35 years. I've seen a lot of freshmen in over their heads. Most of them come through it and become fine players. Even Glen Dorsey never started until he was a junior. Steltz never started until he was a senior.

Tommy Hodson is the only four-year successful starter at QB. Our third-string Qb was asked to start last year and he threw some interceptions, but he also broke many of Hodson's freshman records. Lee's got an arm and has better passing stats than Jefferson and against SEC opposition, too. His defense reading problem is coachable and has been known to be cured by experience.

You watch long enough and you see a lot of players like Lee and Jefferson. It's a mistake to judge a player by his freshman foul-ups or single-game heroics. Neither one of these quarterbacks is going to be the same player he was last season.

And, yes, I get passionate about a football game. But I guaran-fricken'-tee you that I won't "cringe or hold my breath waiting for that mistake to happen when and if Lee takes the field." Mistakes happen all the time by lots of players. Lee didn't lose last season by himself. Both quarterbacks will throw interceptions. I will not spend my game "cringing and worrying" about the next mistake. What a total drag! I'm going to be anticipating the next big play. Having fun.

You can cringe for all of us.

Last time I checked our starter was a pretty good kid, with no arrest record, no attitude, and good head on his shoulder. Along with a load of talent.

    Just saying.
