Being optimistic and it being what most would consider a fact that player is great is two different things. I have no problem with you being optimistic about him, heck I am too, but that does not mean I shouldn't question that which I really haven't seen yet either.

We're just talking. I hope he is a great pocket passer and is a great QB, if not I have no problem with Lee going back in there. To me Lee is a great Tiger even if he never plays well, there is more to sports than just winning. To me he is a tough cookie, I would rather lose every game with Lee than to win every game with Saban. Saban represents to me what college football is not about and Lee coming back is what it is all about, but life is no fairytale and that doesn't mean always works out they way we want. I like our QB situation. Jefferson looks encouraging, Lee has some experience or bad experience but has a great arm, Russell looks exciting.

2009 should be an interesting year, very similar to 2007 if you ask me... there are some holes to fill and it's up to a few players to step up... so to me it could go either way... the 2007 or the 2008 route. Should be fun to find out. Life would be boring if we knew how everything is going to turn out.

Just my take. I think Jefferson did a solid job, we will see what else he can do soon.

Negative attitude. Won't tolerate it (with apologies to Woodrow Call).

We are just talking and I want him to succeed as well. When Lee gets in the game I want him to do well. I care about winning, thats what we are here for.
Lee is a great Tiger, alot of people cant say they would have came back with that kind of abuse. That has to be mentally damaging, so he gets all the props in the world from me for not tucking his tail or getting arrested. He sounds like he put the time into the offseason to correct his mental errors himself.

Winning is fun, winning at all cost is not good IMHO. People get hurt when you do winning at all cost.

I would rather lose every game than ever see Saban as a LSU employee again.

Lee could still go either way... he has the arm to compete at any level, but his decisions have been poor. I still blame the coaches for most of it though. Jefferson has earned a chance, maybe Lee will never get in a gain again, should be fun. With 3 years left, it is highly likely he will get snaps in a real game close situation again.

But im not even thinking about Saban, we have probably the greatest coach who has ever coached at LSU right now. Couple that with a wealth of talent, no one has more talent than we do we are about even with Florida and USC imo. We should win now and right now. I mean what coach signs 24 players and all 24 players are eligible and report to camp.
Now if you want to argue with me, say something negative about Les Miles. :hihi:

though i don't necessarily disagree with either of you, that should've been your argument.

they take away the edges, the middle is open for draws and mid screens. thye take away the middle, the rollout comes open. it's up to crwton to mix it up and react to packages and i think for the most part he's good at that.

the players still need to execute it on the field.

The only bad moves Miles has made since being at LSU revolves around Lee IMHO. Miles has played his good hand wisely, thumbs up from me.

so SIU who are you making a case for here. If this was your team who do you start at quarterback? To me, in 3 games Jordan Jefferson improved, dramatically, in the 7 or so games Jarrett Lee started, he showed no signs of improvement with his decision making. Lee relies too much on his arm strength, if the pocket breaks down, Lee will try to fit a ball into a place he shouldn't be throwing to, bam, pick. Jefferson has the athletic ability to stretch the field and make a play with his legs, and the threat of him running, helps in the passing game, defenders will sometimes bite on Jefferson running, or not commit to the person they are covering which allows our receivers to get open, and create. I appreciate Jarrett Lee's heart, and determination, but i am feeling a little sick right now thinking of him being our quarterback. I don't feel that way with Jefferson, he reminds me of Herb Tyler and that makes me feel safe.

Not trying to gang up on you SIU, but honestly...J-Russ made a living throwing on the run and Flynn won a championship with it...even in the SEC. As far as Jefferson goes, I only saw him roll out when the pocket collapsed or when it was obviously a called play. He made all the throws the coaches asked him to make and made good things happen after a play broke down. His improvisation skills in the bowl game were top-notch, and his patience in the pocket belied his experience. He has an instinct for the game that you can't coach and how you are seemingly resistant to admitting this is beyond all of us here in this discussion.

We're all aware that these statements are just your opinion, and that's fine; but just accept that fact that we are not going to agree with you.

Agree to disagree, in other words.

    J. Russell was/is a pocket passer, that doesn't mean they did have a few plays for him. Flynn was a roller in the Peach bowl that one year when Russell was hurt but most of 2007 he was a pocket passer or a straight QB sneak guy especially after he had the high ankle sprain... if I remember correctly. Nothing wrong with having some rollout plays but eventually have to be able to pass from the pocket.

I believe Jefferson should continue with his shot at running the team, evaluation after each game is in order. LSU can't be satisfied with running Scott up the middle even if it works in the first 4 games, same could be said of the rollouts they were giving Jefferson. Other than victory, the goal should be to improve Jefferson or whatever QB might be in there. Jefferson will have to be more than a rollout QB for LSU to make the next step and beat Florida and others. IMHO

I believe the Scott of the middle will probably work for the first 4 games but if that is all they do than whatever QB is in there will not be prepared for SEC action in my opinion.

I would say Jefferson should be #1, but I see no reason why Lee shouldn't get in there from time to time even in close games... also I think Russell should be given QB time if the opportunity presents itself.

Scott is one tough guy, but the Scott of the middle play is not going to work if that and the rollout is all you got later in the year.... just like last year. Improvement at QB and some overall improvement in the defense and LSU can go all the way, just like in 2007... but if you rely on only two options, I suspect eventually it will catch up to us.

    So:
    #1 Jefferson
#2 Lee (should get in the game even when it matters, maybe a package of plays IMHO)
#3 Russell (special play/situation or emergency QB)

    Just my take.
