Jury isn't out on Gus in my opinion. We've got ample evidence to believe he isn't going to make it...
Best case scenario, he's curretnly only the 6th best coach in his own 7-team division, so it's a tough hill to climb, for sure. Worst case, he's tied with Mullins for dead last.
I can say from experience that North Dakota should STILL be one gigantic homeland to Native Americans (that's right Indians). If they could live in teepees by the Red River in winter time and their women drop a kid next to the first tree they could find.............THEY should own the place. The mosquitoes up there make the ones in LA. look like bait. Absolutely the worst place I have ever lived and it is not even close!!! So, IMO, there is no such thing as "good retirement" land in ND unless you show up on May 31st and leave on Sept 1st every year!
I don't remember the name of the little town where all the oil business is but the hotel, all 6 rooms sold out in less than 4 hours. Supposedly they cannot find people to do support type jobs that would pay minimum wages in most places, kind of like the Katrina effect when people started moving back.
I was there in early 2000. I stayed in bismarck but worked 80 miles away. Like you said the "motel" there had about 5 rooms and i was told 3 tv channels. So I opted to stay in their "big" city...btw which had ZERO bars! The state capitol had ZERO bars. We got drunk in the mall at a restaurant. I was there before the oil boom started. Our waiter asked where we were from. We all said south louisiana. He asked how far we were from new orleans. We said about 2 hours from bourbon st. He put his head down and said "i'm not 2 hours from anything." and left.
No, not Minot, Minot would look like NYC in comparison, I'm sure some of the oil and gas types know the area though.
