Didn't GameDay make a decision a year or two ago that they'd have one broadcast from a FCS school per season?
They will have to bring half the population of the state to make a crowd to cheer behind the cameras at Game day!
As usual, just something not worth worrying about. Hard to believe that a 3-0 LSU going up against a 3-0 Auburn involves an unranked team. Not so long ago, this would have been considered one of the year's marquee matchups.
That's way too true. Auburn, along with Tennessee, is a good example of why you don't just get rid of a coach that consistently wins >75% of his games.
And neither school got rid of a coach winning greater than 75% of their games. Fulmer was a @ a .690 coach against all teams, a .630 guy in contest with SEC teams, but the reason he was fired was his record against ranked teams. After their 1998 BCS win he was .275 against teams ranked in the top 25. Tubs was less than .500 against ranked teams but better than UT. (UT's BCS win was in '98 which happens to be the same year AU hired Tubs.) Tubs was around .680 against all teams, about .630 versus SEC. With UT, it wasn't the firing that was the mistake. It was who was hired. Auburn just plain screwed up. Then again, I can't see Tubs ever recruiting Cam...which led to their BCS title in '10. They'd certainly be in better shape today with Tubs but I doubt we'd see a crystal football in West Opelika.
Well, I admit I didn't research it, but it seemed to me that you could pretty much count on at least a 9-win season out of both of those guys, and they were competitive in the games they lost. They were by no means bottom-dwellers, as they have become.
That's hard to say. They did have one dominant, undefeated season with Tubs calling the shots. Too bad they didn't get the chance to take down SC.
Not hard at all. Chizik is a no-brainer. Jury's still out on Gus, although I'm not of the belief that he'll bring consistent success to the plains.
