Can't blame Moffit for knee problems or Chad Jones playing baseball and taking long stints off away from the S&C program. Moffit can't make these guys come in and work before the combines either. He is the best in the business and along with Gayle Hatch have produced many top S&C coaches at top programs around the country.

Ciron Black has been battling injury all year and some of last season as well. He wanted to fight through it and hoped for the best and was our best option IMO. Doctors approved him to play and he is going to play if they say he can. His conditioning suffered along the way also because he was very limited in what he could do before, during, and after the season.

unfortunately people love easy problems and quick fixes.

look, that guy's cramping up. must be S & C.

hey that guy's fat, damn S&C not doing their job.

but really the player has responsibility too. or maybe it's option C in some cases. maybe b/c of ciron's knees he can't do the things he needs to do to keep his weight under control.

maybe a player on defense is cramping because the defense is on the field for 576 plays a game and the offense is on the field for 12.

CBs cover alot of ground and ground that they don't dictate (meaning really they react and employ make up speed on just about everything they do).

when PP was cramping up (knowing moffitt and the rep he has) the first thing i thought of was not hey, it's S&C's fault. it was man, maybe if we had a QB who could be consistent, or an OL that could block for a running game, or an OC that could call plays that suited his offense, maybe we could sustain drives and give the D a few plays off every now and then.

but what do i know, i drink a lot on gamedays.

As I recollect, it was documented that PP had the flu that week. We saw him play every other game without a hitch. Probably not a good example.

You are correct, sir. I have read a few articles that indicated this, just didn't feel like looking them up.

Couple of questions...who got CB to the point he was at his junior year?? The one that got him nationally recognized throughout his first 3 years as a Tiger?? I believe that S&C came from the same coach that is being dumped on in this thread.

Sorry, but injuries happen that are beyond Moffitt's control and I hardly think he is responsible for the lack of depth on the O-Line. I also have to believe that CJ is a product of a 2 sport athlete that may have temporarily lost his motivation.

Not dumping on Moffitt myself, but the LSU players have been under performing in the combines. And I can see where Ciron Black was out of shape and overweight because of undisclosed knee injuries. But why was he starting and playing ahead of the guys who are going to start this year?

Did Black's injuries get worse as the season progressed?

Is the severity of the knee injuries to CB the reason he wasn't drafted or able to sign a free agent contract and why he's still not invited to any NFL team rookie tryouts?

Who gave Black medical clearance to play last season?

    When did Black's injuries occur?

When was the coaching staff aware of Black's injuries?

You see...this raises a lot of questions...the kind of questions Ciron Black's attorney would probably be asking Moffitt, Miles and the LSU medical staff in front of a jury.

As much as I hate when players leave too early I really never understand why players projected in the first round don't leave as juniors(or 3rd year removed from high school) as well.

Ciron Black was late first round at the very worst a year ago.

    That's a dang shame.

Charles Scott was probably 2nd round and good enough to sway him to leave early as well.

These kids lost a lot of money.

Accusing them of what exactly? Conspiring to keep Ciron Black undrafted? What is their motivation? They played him his senior year, that he stayed for, which was exactly what he wanted to do. Players get hurt, it's a violent game.

Not sure where to place the blame here. Don't think that Moffitt can be blamed for these kids not focusing and utilizing the program to its fullest. As has been pointed out our S & C program has been touted as one of the best and mirrored by many other programs. I think it rest more on the heads of the players than Moffitt. A perfect example is Russell, we were able to keep him somewhat in control and focused enough to become an overall 1st round draft pick. He got a bazzillion $$$ and now doesn't care and his career could be cut very short or at the very best be placed back in a 3rd string position and given the chance to earn back his stock. If our program has been getting the most out of these players, enough to win National Championships and SEC Championships, 10-11 win seasons, giving these kids the opportunity to be drafted high and make great paychecks, but they don't perform at the NFL level, that says to me give a lot of credit to our program for getting the most out of these kids, more than the NFL can get out of them even when they are getting paid millions.

Now my concern has been what has transpired over the past 2 seasons, which showed in this year’s draft. Our players have done poorly in the combines, not getting drafted and we are having rough seasons. Our players have shown to not be able to go for 4 qtrs and do poorly in NFL workouts. There is a correlation, I just don't know where to put the finger. What has changed? Is it the attitude of the players, is it the coaching has become somewhat lax? Or is it these kids just aren't pushing themselves, not taking the pride of being a Tiger as serious as they should, becoming victims of our own success, in thinking that just because they are an LSU Tiger positive things will happen for them? Not being hungry and having the heart it takes to really be successful? I'm just not sure.

I would add, that maybe this slap in the face will make our current players wake up and realize they need to fight for success, rather than act like they are entitled to it just because they play for LSU.
