From today's Advocate. Alleva has been undermining Miles since at least last season. Would this year's defense have done better with Chavis?

"Miles was even unable to get the clause erased from former defensive coordinator John Chavis’ contract (Chavis is now at Texas A&M) that said LSU can stop paying Miles’ assistant coaches after six months if he is terminated."

If Alleva was going to block Les on both DC and OC, then Les probably should have been fired at that moment, instead of it developing into this slow train wreck.

This, if Alleva was told to get rid of Les if the team struggles, seems like blocking him from retaining the assistants he wants would be a good way to get the desired outcome.

In all reality maybe this Alleva trying to save his own skin. I have to think if Miles continued in mediocrity until the end of his contract Alleva would have been replaced somewhere along the way. Maybe Alleva figures he can dump Les and keep his job if he makes a good hire and gets the program back where it should be. If he makes a bad hire he gets fired anyway. Basically the only way he keeps his job involves firing Les.

Miles was on thin ice, it made no sense to take the clause out of Chavis contract just so LSU would have to pay him more if Miles continued to fail. Cam is still here, he's just not getting an extension because he and Miles are going to be gone. Why would you extend someone's contract right before you fire them? Alleva sucks, I never wanted hint as AD, but don't blame him for Miles's failure to field an offense or find someone that would.

This is a pussy bitch wife move. Won't file for divorce so is going to make life miserable for him. Joe Alleva needs to go.

I think Miles and Alleva have talked already and Miles knows if he's staying or going. It gives both he and the AD time to get their stuff together much like Miles did with assistants he was getting rid of. Besides nothing was going to happen before the regular season ended anyway, the firing or the hiring. Everyone is impatient, me included, but these things take time. Did anyone think a head coach would be signed before he finished the regular season with his current team?

If Les had gone public at the time and made it crystal clear he was unhappy with Alleva, that he thought Alleva should have kept Chavis and flat out said he strongly disagreed with Alleva and that Alleva was interfering with Les's handling of the team, then good chance Alleva would be gone. At worst it would have brought this to a head last January and one of them would have been gone. Now we know Alleva refused to extend Cameron's contract earlier in the season, again against Les's request. Now its cost us Franks. Les had power when LSU was 7-0. He could likely have taken it to the media and won a fight with Alleva.

You keep ignoring all the evidence showing Alleva has been undermining Les for at least one year. Mrs Alleva, is that you? The narrative among fans last December shouldn't have been "greedy, disloyal Chavis" but "Alleva wants Les gone."
