You do remember that Chavis's bone of contention was being paid even if Les was fired, right? 2+2=... go on...you can do it.
That doesn't make getting rid of Chavis part of Alleva's plan or that he wanted to get rid of Chavis at all. It simply implies that Alleva wasn't convinced that Miles deserved to hang around much longer. Given what has happened this season Alleva would have been a fool to remove that clause. Miles would probably still be gone and LSU would owe assistants even more money. 2+2=.....come on, you can do it.....or can you?
Les wanted Chavis to stay. Athetic director goes directly against head coaches wishes. That's a big deal. In retrospect, Alleva was telegraphing his intent. In most top programs with star head coaches, it's job suicide for the AD to oppose the HC. That Alleva chose to oppose Les, shows that Les was already on shaky ground.
Your lust for Miles has your brain foggy. Again, why would Alleva agree to pay Chavis extra buyout money if he thought the odds were against Miles staying?
Now we hear that Frank decommits and Cam Cameron played a huge part in securing his commitment. But this is the last year of Cameron's contract and it wasn't renewed, despite Les trying to get it renewed earlier this year. Ok, so there you have Alleva blocking Les on both defensive and offensive coordinator. Remember that when Franks leads the Gators into Tiger Stadium in a few years.
