It was just a couple of weeks ago the talking heads on E$PeeN brought this up. Their 'scenario' was this: CRR is out the door CLM goes to Michigan LSU gets on the phone to $aban $aban leaves Bama for the Bayou I laughed.
I wouldn't want Saban. I would want John Gruden as my first choice. :crystal::geaux::crystal::geaux::crystal:
Couple of quick hit thoughts. 1. Miles Isnt leaving 2. I dont want him to leave 3. If he did anyone who said "I wouldn't want Saban" is lying to themselves. If he came back here people would be throwing flowers at his feet. He is a good coach, actually an amazing coach. It appears he has some serious character flaws, but although it would never happen in a million years if he spurned Bama to come back to Baton Rouge every Tiger fan on the face of the earth would welcome him back with open arms. But he isnt, Miles is our coach and I am proud he is.
I couldn't agree more. Miles is a really good coach. He's a really great man, and he loves LSU. He ain't leaving. :crystal::geaux::crystal::geaux::crystal:
There is not a more quality person out there than Les Miles. Because he is a nice man with conviction, he is able to recruit very well. When comparing apples, there are many college football coaches that are much better suited for the LSU Football program. I would prefer LSU have a better football coach than a nice guy. I have no interest in bringing Saban back.
I hope Miles isn't going anywhere, but I could see it happening. UM would have to put up the bucks and not expect him to take a drastic cut in pay. I wouldn't be mad at him though if its where he wants to be. LSU will get WHOEVER they want as a replacement if it ever goes down.
I think CRR gets another year. He has to be allowed to recruit his kind of players and let some of them grow up in his system. He ain't tearing it up up there, but heck Lloyd Carr lost to Appy State. How'd you feel as a head coach going there knowing they gave a proven head coach 2 years to turn about a poor program? Give you a warm fuzzy??? Not if you're an established coach in a proven situation. Then Mich would have to buy out CRR. To me, everything points to RR getting one more year, then Mich can say they gave him a fair shot, and his buyout would be a lot less.
Michigan ain't firing RR this year, no matter how the season ends. Even if they did, I doubt CLM would leave. Beside the advantages of coaching for LSU (premier conference, no in-state competition to affect recruiting, the SEC's advantage in the BCS, etc. etc. etc.), I doubt the varied powers that be at Michigan would be 100% behind a CLM hire even now...and I get the impression that unless they want him and only him, CLM ain't leaving. That said, I'm honest enough to admit that if he would leave and LSU would hire Saban, I'd be 100% for it. NOT because I think he's a fantastic coach (though I do admire his skill in the subject). No, I'd be for it because the meltdown by the Gumps would be ****ing EPIC. My goodness, I can imagine it now. It would be like Christmas and New Years and Armageddon all at once, and I think tidefans might actually cause the internets to explode if it happened. But it won't. If it did, Saban wouldn't be the worst hire for LSU, but he wouldn't be the best, either. He's best at rebulding programs, IMO, and seems to have a five/six year shelf life before his personality issues outweight his acheivements on the field. Still...kinda fun imagining the chaos in gumpland if it did.
ha ha, its funny this post come up, today a friend of mine (gamecock fan) was telling me that michigan could fire Rich R this season and offer the job to miles again, he said he thinks miles will take it this time and if he does LSU's new coach next year will be Steve Spurrier, they said SS was asked about the LSU job when they thought miles might go to michigan a few years ago and sourses say he was very interested, all I could think today is what a imagination :insane:
