I like that guy. Hate to see him at Texas. Simply because I live in the belly of the Big 12 beast and I hate seeing Texas Bonghorns be successful in anything BUT I like Muschamp. I like his passion. If he goes Big 12 it will be a loss for the SEC. YEs he is at Auburn which is our rival but that is what makes the SEC so fun.
As most of us know part of Tubbs agreement to stay at Auburn was more money for is assistant coaches. Now Auburn gets to step up to the plate. Six wins in a row over Bama leaves Auburn coaches feeling like they should be making as much as Bama coaches. I want be surprised if Auburn matches to keep him. Hope he stays in the SEC even though leaving would benefit LSU. I just don't like it benefiting Bama.
The plane landed in Auburn around 3pm bringing WM and his wife back from Austin after they spent 1 1/2 days there (that's good because it indicates he is not rushing to a decision either way). As he got off the plane WM said he had not made a decision and would meet with Tubs later this evening. As reporters tried to ask questions, WM said "he had nothing more to say and that they would have to talk to Coach Tuberville." I think WM is a class guy and is handling this the way it should be done.
http://blog.al.com/trackingtigers/2008/01/will_muschamp_resigned_today_a.html Muschamp resigns as Auburn defensive coordinator, accepts Texas offer!
The highest paid assistant in the SEC leaves after 2 years in a lateral move, he must have really hated Tubby too.:hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :geauxtige
Thats sucks, I was still holding on to the hope he might return, what little there as anyways. Oh well, Texas just got a hell of a DC. Heres hoping we can do the same soon.
Yeah. And IF Tenuta is on Miles list of coordinators, I just hope Tubby doesn't offer him a position before we at least get a chance to speak to him. Although, I just get the feeling that Miles already has his next DC picked--or at least reached an agreement with and I don't think he's promoting from within (i.e. Mallory).... I just think if Miles WAS to promote from within, he would have announced it because it would be good moral for the team and the coach. Telling the team who their NEXT DC would be for '08 wouldn't cause controversy if the candiate was already in-house. But the fact that he said he would handle it on his own time frame leads me to believe that we're getting an outside candidate.
