As is clear to anyone paying the slightest bit of attention to LSU, the offense has been consistently underperforming for years. This has happened even though LSU continues to recruit well and seems to have the pieces in place to be dynamic. I really believed that Clemson did LSU a favor by having their weak defense bottle-up the O on New Year's Eve, in that an LSU victory would have produced another 11-win season and an excellent excuse to stay the course. My view was that long-awaited change was undoubtedly coming. However, it seems there is total silence regarding the prospect of getting a new O-coordinator, and with so many changes in the NFL and NCAA coaching staffs these days, I wonder if LSU could get left without a chair. I hope LSU has been quietly pursuing something and are simply waiting until after signing day to announce, because if LSU is going to keep pace with A&M and Bama in the West, they are going to needan offense to do it.
I'm silent about the OC because I'm pessimistic that we'll get a new one. Even though I'm a fan of Miles, I was disgusted at the offensive performance of the offense for the last several years. I really thought JJ would snap out of it and be a serviceable QB like Mauck and Flynn, but it never happened. I think Crowton ruined him...and then he got caught up in the wrong crowd in the locker room...so a lot of the blame rests on his own shoulders. Last year was a disappointment as far as the passing game went. The receivers dropped way too many passes...especially early on. It looked like they were thinking about what they were gonna do after they caught the ball instead of thinking about catching it. If we can't get a real OC, can we at least get someone like Lance Moore to coach the receivers ???
LSU lost a recievers coach and a DB coach since last season correct? And those two positions saw a decline in performance this past season. Hopefully they get on track with the new coaches.
Or, hopefully waiting for all of those new NFL coaches to complete their staffs to see who is still looking for a job?
Unless Miles can find these guys another job elsewhere, they won't be fired. And why change a thing when the job you are doing gets you a promotion and extension?
Maybe you blanked out at the end of the season, but A&M was trending in a much better direction than LSU. A&M kicking OU in the ballz was slightly more impressive than LSU's loss to Clemson. Not only that, A&M will have several big time recievers playing with a Heisman trophy winner for the next couple of years. Early predictions I've seen have LSU finishing third in the West behind A&M and Bama. That's the pace I'm talking about.
