Lee's going to go down as one of the most under apperciated players in LSU history. It's just a shame how he's been treated not only by the fans but his own coaching staff as well.[/QUOTE] Not sure what you are trying to say???? Lee got in the game and got to do his thing. It's on Lee and how he played football. He has his issues that CLM had to work around to get the most out of Lee. I think JL is happy to be a Tiger and will do his very best to be the #1 QB in 2011. If he beats out ZM and JJ he will be on the field. Why would you think for 1 minute the CLM would not put the best QB on the field to win the game?
You've got to be kidding me. You've must be one of those people who look at a glass with water halfway up to the top and say "Half Full? Half Empty? It looks perfect to me!"
Dane .. you seem to be the only person besides myself who realizes that Lee's "poor performance" after the FL game was the result of Lee giving up. All the other people on this board are the typical "wind blows" types. When Lee was doing great against FL .. they were all yelling he needed to be the starter. When CLM destroyed his confidence and momentum by denying him that start ... and his performance began to wane because as you put it ... "his head and heart were no longer in it" ... all of the sudden, Lee is a suck ass QB who should ship out to a FCS club. They never put it all together. Lee started sucking right after being denied the rightful starting position that he earned. ... and quite frankly .. I don't blame him. Mr STFU decides I'm not a team player because of my position ... that it's all about the "team". That's a bunch of crap. Everyone of these guys are hoping to land a posh job in the NFL ... and riding the pine isn't going to get you there. Of course .. If your JJ .... stinking up the field aint' going to get you their either.
FIRST - You can't really believe Lee ever gave up - he's showed way more stones than that. You insult him with statement. SECOND - I agree with you and Dane that without Lee we would have lost more games; but the same is true of JJ. Both of these guys need to keep up with their studies and not depend on an NFL check - unless its the front office. And that's OK - they are still both good guys - they are just not Sunday material. THIRD - Mr STFU [that would be me] said you were not a team player because you would have gone in there and told them to go 'do' themselves - or words to that effect. That's not how football teams work and that's not how players earn the respect of their team mates. That's how teams fall apart - not pull together. You find those teams at the botton of the rankings not 10th in the BCS - suck on it Boise. FOURTH - I don't think either of these guys 'won' the position. I think they both showed what they had - and we saw it. JJ is sometimes stunningly indecisive - add to that a slow delivery and it's like the ball takes forever to get out of the backfield. NFL blitzers would murder him. He needs a position change to have a chance in the NFL. I agree, when Lee's on he throws a pretty pass - but he's eratic. And Lee's mechanics disappear under pressure, which is when you need them the most. Both of these guys are a step below Sr class - it's time. FIFTH - I'm glad you give credit to Lee - fans have torched him over the top. But then you go over board on JJ. That's not balanced - IMO. You've become what your citical of - again IMO.
If Lee were a consistent passer and showed it in practice, he would've been the starter by the Florida game. As often as Lee has made big plays for us this season, he's also been inconsistent and flat when given opportunities to lead the offense. Lee has been the definition of hot and cold in his time at LSU. Les was faced with a situation with 2 QBs with passing games best described as mediocre at best, and one QB with the ability to make plays with his feet when the called play broke down. If JJ has a bad passing game, his legs bring another element to the running game. If Lee has a bad day as a passer, however, there's nothing else he brings to the table. So Les tried to make the most of both QBs, and given what we had to work with I don't think it was a bad decision IMO.
All the other people that don't see it your way need to be called names! You must be at least 19 years old. :milesmic::LSU231:
dude .. I just call it as I see it. And .. yep .. I'm "at least" 19 ... x2 and then some. --- and yes .. I'm critical of JJ. I wouldn't call it "overboard". He is what he is. I thought he sucked last year and that opinion didn't change this year. While most consider his "feet" a plus, I consider it a negative. If you are a Cam, who can use your feet to get out of situation but still keep your eye down field for the play, that is one thing, subbing your wheels for the play the down field is another. --- and yes .. I will stand up [again] and admit my bias. I don't buy into the running QB scheme. I like to see a QB .. and a couple of good RBs and WRs. As I already noted ... Lee wasn't allowed the opportunity to build on his momentum. It was dashed. All he needed, [and we as well], was one game ... start to finish. McNeese was the perfect opp. If Lee would've played the entire McNeese game and stunk up the field .. I'd be with you guys .... but .... we will never know .. cause he wasn't given the chance. I still believe the coaches were biased toward JJ, ... in game plan, play calling, and all.
His feet were a negative once, but if you can't see that his feet have been his only asset and that he has gotten a thousand times better in the option game, then you are blinded by your hatred for him.
I'm sorry what are you trying to imply? That I'm content with the QB play? Then you obviously don't understand what I'm saying. I'm just as happy as everyone that Mett is coming to LSU. My point was simply that I think JLee wasn't put in the best position to succeed this year. And that he's done a lot more for LSU Football than people give him credit. I'm also happy with Miles and Chavis and want a new OC. I also think that Mett will get a far better shake at starting than Lee has gotten, due to multiple reasons. Also if you must know, if I saw a glass filled halfway with water I'd say, "What is someone doing pouring water in my Whiskey glass?"
