When they get their shot, they usually win. Talk to Oklahoma, to me the best game I have ever seen. That game had it all. VT was ranked #10 when they played them and they beat Oregon State which was ranked #24. They have two half way tough games left over the next two weeks. Boise State is usually a solid team, that doesn't mean they can't lose or won't lose. I still think 3 of the 4 lose a game.
Auburn will not be forced to forfeit. They might have their wins vacated, which means the wins for Auburn will be erased, but the teams they beat do not get a win. If Auburn is 9-0 or 10-0, their record would become 0-0, but LSU would still be 9-1.
With how LSU played at the start of the year and the Tenn. near disaster, who really thought that 12-1 and BCS bowl was possible? I'll take that recipe too.
I don't think LSU jumps anyone because they were already behind! I wouldn't be surprised to see Auburn jump Oregon and Boise jump TCU! If Oregon wins out then either TCU or Boise St will have their shot in the Rose Bowl! Oregon St hurt both teams last night losing to a bad Wash St team and Utah losing to Notre Dame hurt TCU even more. I don't care how anyone fluffs it up, but TCU and Boise St play soft schedules year in and year out! I would like to see LSU schedule Boise or TCU next year instead of a McNeese or USL or NLU!! Maybe one day they'll have 4 or 5 superconferences and the teams within the conferences play each other year in and year out, leaving the cupcake conferences out. Yeah, i know about them losing out on the $$$$ but the world's not a fair place! Or they can just implement a playoff system which probably will never happen! A question....if Auburn wins out and goes to the NCG, does this mean South Carolina goes to the Sugar Bowl regardless if they lose the SECCG?
Had this conversation on our forum this morning... I believe the answer is no. South Carolina would go to the Sugar Bowl only if they win the SEC championship game. A bad scenario for LSU would be for that to happen. If Auburn beats Bama, then loses to South Carolina, Auburn may get the BCS at large over LSU, even if LSU wins out and is 11-1.... only two teams from any BCS qualifying conference can go to BCS bowls. Now if LSU wins out and Auburn loses to both Bama and SC, you are probably in as the at large, I would guess.
This is correct. Only Way SC gets in a BCS game is with an automatic Bid by winning the SEC Champ Game.
I agree also with Hawker's assessment. We're still not assured of a BCS bowl game should we win out unless Auburn is in the CG. So if we have no shot at playing for the NC, we should pull for Auburn to make it to the CG, which most assuredly gets us into the Sugar. Even in the event Auburn wins the SEC CG but lost to Bama the week before and gets the Sugar instead, LSU would be fighting for that last at-large bid potentially a slew of 1 loss teams. Wisconsin holds the tie breaker with Ohio State, so them winning out potentially leaves an 11-1 Ohio State team competing with LSU to go up against the ACC Champ in the Orange Bowl. We'll be higher ranked in the BCS, but it's the Orange Bowl's call as to whom brings them a bigger benefit. I would hope LSU's propensity to travel well wins out in the end. It would be in my back yard and I would get to see it personally.
