You're showing your yute. In the 1980's LSU had only 2 RBs that reached 1,000 yards rushing in a seasin. Dalton & Harvey, this went on until Faulk ran for 1,000 in 1996. Saban's lone LSU 1,000 rusher was Justin Vincent, who had that 1 great year.
It doesn't happen very often, but I've got @TigerTap 's back in this debate, mostly anyway. Not on board with Spencer Ware being elite, or the implication that Harvey was - he was for a year, but the ACL ruined his chances for legendary elite. Dalton, Faulk, Fournette, Hill, Guice all definitely elite. (And of course, Alexander, Stovall and that other guy, Cannon, I think?) Emery has the best chance of joining that list from the current crop, but I'm not sure he'll get the touches. I'm betting there will be a lot of committee work in September, and if he's as good as some think, he'll start taking carries away from the others. I'd love to see Curry make the big leap, but I'm not going to be swayed by the spring game. I'll admit, I raised eyebrows for him, but I need to see it in the fall. One other thing Tap is right about.....Alligator Woman, way better song than Neck.
But sadly you missed some great games in the 80's. Ex. You missed LSU winning our 1st SEC Championship in 1986, since 1970.
Very good? LF7 and Guice were the best RB's not only in the SEC but the entire country. Don't know how you rate RB's but if "very good" is LF7 and Guice hope we get "very good" RB's like them every year. If LF7 had stayed healthy and through his senior year he might have been the best in LSU history and maybe of all time in the SEC.
