Then you admit CLM and his team participate in negative recruiting? Interesting. I find it surprising that you would post "hearsay" including the "apparently JM....kinda hinted.......not so many words". You work for the National Enquirer or what? Why did Herbie get annhilated for his errant reports on CLM, but this is okay? Just wondering and no disrespect intended.
it's the 21st century... every school negatively recruits. some more than others, obviously, but when they are sitting with a player, they are doing a few things: 1. selling the school to the kid 2. selling against the other schools to the kid. and every school does that. and yes, this is okay, because this is a message board and not a newspaper or ESPN. This is where rumors belong. Read the book "Meat Market", you'll learn some pretty interesting stuff about your boy Pete Carroll in there.
I'm not naive to the fact of negative recruiting but it certainly isn't something to be proud of. Personally, I don't think rumors belong anywhere. The office gossip is just that. In fact, rumors about players are perhaps the worst since they often can't or don't defend themselves.
you're in favor of a pretty boring message board, then... b/c that's what this would be without what you're talking about. and there are ways to do what I stated without singling anyone out or any school out. I don't know how specifically anyone recruits as I have never been recruited before. lol I'm just posting what I was told. Sometimes what I'm told is accurate. Sometimes it's not. Also, like I said in the 1st post, read Meat Market, then come here and question what you should and shouldn't be proud of. P.S. Reggie Bush's debacle isn't the only shady dealings USC football is involved in or has been involved in.
We just plain disagree. I've been told many things by players, coaches, insiders. I never post it. For me, why even take a chance on posting something that may be inaccurate or told in confidence? Better to be late and sure than early and wrong. But that's just me. I have never said nor suggested that USC's football program is perfect or has never committed infractions. Certainly the sanctions we've had tell a different story. However, I'd never boast about them in any way. I went on record earlier this year to say that if RB were to be found guilty then I'd be the fool and he'd be dead to me. I'm an alum first, a football fan second.
Reggie's taking incredible heat in New Orleans lately. I hope the rumors about him at SC aren't true, because I really like the kid. BTW, it's pretty subjective as to what qualifies as "gossip" isn't it? To me, the whole oiled machine that is collegiate recruiting and the stout following it has is essentially one big circular conversation involving nothing more than gossip.
