It would be a courtesy and a "thank you" to one of the greatest coaches in LSU history.

It is reported they "would be willing" to waive it.

    1) He's an idiot...bigger than suspected
    2) It means IF LES DOESN'T GO TO UM, they'll waive the buyout.
    3) They have Patterson on that plane that came from Dallas to BR, and are making a smooth transition...therefore, felt in a good mood and waived the buyout as a thanks to UM for flying Patterson to BR.

Bottom line, Alleva is a money guy, so I think #1 is out.

If we had Patterson in the bag, I would certainly make it as easy as possible for Michigan to take Les away from us.

    That's a no brainer.

Actually heard they would do this a few weeks ago if it came down to it. More of a courtesy thing. We reduced it significantly since his original contract.

Maybe they will waive it if Miles personally calls all the recruits who are committed and tells them why he is leaving and why the only school they should even think about attending is LSU.

I could live with that if he is gonna go. I mean he could go, have Michigan pay the buyout and then try and sway some people to come with him. It could also be so he won't take any of the staff with him. I could live with that also.

Heh, when coaches leave they take as many with them as they can. He'll probably tell them at Michigan they may play immediately- the shape they're in.
