He was a top 5 recruit in the nation and played QB at a 5-A school in Texas. It's pretty obvious he has the arm and the decision making ability. It's not like JJ and Jarrett Lee were setting the world on fire, and we also didn't really need another wide receiver. So why exactly didn't they develop Shepard to be a QB? I really feel like we've wasted his talent a lot already. He could've been a Michael Vick level QB in my opinion, just a ridiculous athlete but also a solid QB.
because he barely completed 50 percent of his passes in HIGH SCHOOL. No way he could have had any sort of success throwing the football.
When a player has to go up to his head coach and ask him if he can change positions, he probably wasn't born to play quarterback.
And this part was oversold as well. I highly doubt Shepard stood a snowball's chance in hell of entering even Summer as a QB. This was one of those parenting opportunities where you let the young man arrive at the decision for himself, but you're prepared to force the issue if it comes down to it. I think Shep and Miles have a lot of mutual respect, and the way this went down proves it - just my opinion.
eh, what's the big deal anyway? where he lines up on the field is really a moot point because opponents are going to hate hearing his name by the time it's all said and done no matter what position he plays.
Shepard realizes (smartly) that he has no chance in the NFL as a QB but will be drafted as a WR/KR type player. He was highly rated because he played very well at the QB position but really made most of his plays with his feet. I'm just glad he was willing to switch and it didn't get ugly like it could have been with some cocky players
He was a top 5 athlete...not a top 5 QB. Big difference. In high school your best athlete plays QB because you want the ball in his hands. Very rarely do you have a college style QB playing that position. Shepard is going to be one hell of a player, but his skill sets would be wasted at QB. Even if his arm developed.
