Ask Faulk who asked him to come to LSU, it wasn't Dinardo. Just call him "Hoss", he'll know who got him to LSU.
Saban won his NC with Dinardo's recruits; Dinardo went on to get fired and do nothing. Miles won his NC with Saban's recruits; Saban went on to the NFL and then to win multiple NCs. Miles hasn't won another NC since.
LSU had been a talented team for decades; not until Saban got here did we start consistently winning, did we start running with the big dogs. All this Saban hate is ridiculous. Give our former coach his due. Y'all just seem bitter. LSU and Saban benefited from each other, and he left us much better than he found us for sure.
That is a pretty fair observation. It does ignore the 90s and Archer/Hallman nose dive but credit should be given to Dinardo for restarting the talent flow Saban for changing the culture and Miles for his maintainence of the Tigers at the top.
So Saban's 5* recruits are just inherently better than Miles' 5* recruits. That always makes me laugh.
No hate here and I do give him his due. Marriage shows us that hating the "ex" is just a natural human phenonmena, I guess. It's complex how people can come to hate one they once loved so much. People need to give Miles his, too.
If Nick had gone anywhere but a school in the SEC West, he would be a cherished part of LSU football history. But Nick went to Bama where he is now trying to take something away from LSU each and every season. So he gets treated with mild contempt like every other opponents coach. It was his choice. Nick never speaks ill of LSU and I never speak ill of Nick. But his legacy at LSU will now always be tempered by his choice to compete with LSU every season.
EXACTLY! I've heard lots of people talk about how we ought to be so thankful, well I am grateful for what Saban did while he was here. He never speaks ill of LSU, true (he's well coached by his public relations coach) but it was just a job to him, LSU is not a special place to him like it is to the fans. You can bet it doesn't bother him a bit that it rippped out the LSU fans hearts 2 years in a row. That's why I hope they never invite him back and honors him, even after he retires. This place IS special to Miles, it's where he plans on building his legacy, he turned down his Alma Mater twice. That's why I don't understand why so many of the LSU fans don't embrace him. I cringe when he screws up (just like I did when Saban screwed up, and he did 2001 Ole Miss, UAB, ect.) But he's OUR coach, in a way Saban never was, and a damn strong one. So, with all that said, TCU Tiger can kiss my tiger ass
