I get what you are saying and I share your frustration. I hate to watch any LSU team lose. That said, Trent had a pretty darn good recruiting year last year with the additions of O'Bryant, Hickey and Isaac. If Trent doesn't pull it together in the next few years I will want a change also, but for now I just think, all things considered, the verdict is still out.
Let me get this straight. This kid is upset that the head basketball coach of a major SEC team couldn't take time to show up at his basketball games which, coincidentally, run concurrent with LSU's 30+ game schedule at two maybe three games a week, practice every day and all of the contractual duties Johnson has with TV and personal appearances. I thought this was why he has recruiters. I don't hear any mention of off season visits...so he is just upset that Johnson didn't make time to see him play out of the 40-50 recruits LSU seeks each season? Give me a freakin break. I've seen him play...he is good but I don't see a superstar. He may be a good player in a few years but right now he is bench material at a major program.
So a top BB recruit is a prima donna. Shocker! That just dictates the style in which you recruit him. This kid likes attention and needs to feel like he is a high priority. It’s not just about how many games TJ can attend. That’s just a symptom of how he was recruited and a case of LSU not understanding its target. TJ needs to asses each recruits priorities and develop the correct to appeal those priorities. Obviously in this case TJ was unable to do that as well as Baylor’s coach. To say, “He was a prima donna. We don’t want him anyway.” is a just sour grapes. Of course we wanted him. Obviously this is no reason to fire a coach. Just one small example of him not getting the job done. Eventually you need to add up all the fails, put them against his successes, and decided if he is the right man for the job.
No it ain't. A coach promotes the school and the team and the coaches. The recruit promotes his talent and his attitude. Hopefully both sides are happy. But any time a coach kisses a recruits backside to get him to sign . . . then start worrying about a coach paying a recruit to get him to sign. I've had enough of LSU basketball probation. If Johnson is running a clean program, that is what I expect from him. If he loses an occasional player who wants some kind of "special treatment", then that is better than signing another Lester Earl.

Matt Mascona got a message from a current coach at his HS tonight while on the air. Can't remember what sport he coached but said "Trent Johnson was at the school more than I was". Not surprised based on Gathers' personality.
THIS! I read the article after reading this post and have to say that there is a lot more to the article than what was presented here.
LSU had a football coach that couldn't be bothered with recruiting and it set the program back for over a decade.
