I am not sure I agree with Miles' policy of not allowing an athlete to visit other schools once he has committed to LSU. I just think it is a right a prospect has. I can understand Miles' concern, but I can readily understand a prospect wanting to take advantage of his allowed visits, even if he has committed to a school. To pull a scholly simply because he took advantage of a right that he has - or even to put pressure on him not make visits - just seems wrong to me. I am interested in anyone's point of view on this topic.
I can see your point, but I disagree with you. I like the policy. If a recruit "commits", that should be the end of it. If he still wants to visit other schools, then he shouldn't commit...period. Nobody forces anyone to commit until NSD, and even then, they don't HAVE to commit. That just happens to be the earliest they can sign. If a kid still wants to weigh all his options, then he shouldn't commit. The reason they commit early is to "guarantee" a spot is available for them...but the coaches get screwed big time when they "de-commit", especially if they do it late in the process. Then, the coaches have to hope there is someone available that they let pass by, since they THOUGHT they had a COMMIT-ment from a kid. You say they have a right to look around...and I agree. But the coaches/university also should have the right to expect commitment to mean commitment. Would you be OK if your fiance' decided to check out some other guys after you became engaged?? I think not.:thumb:
FishHead pretty much nailed it, I'll just use an analogy that may have been used before: It's like being engaged........don't ask for a woman's hand (Or a woman not accept) in marriage and still shop around. Miles doesn't mind "Visits" just take them before you commit and if you commit, don't take them. :thumb: Notre Dame, last year, lost some early commits. Having said that, there does seem to be an early trend developing to commit early and skip the "Headache" of the long process though.
Dam, I swear I hadn't read the end of your post and need to practice my comprehension on my speed reading. If being guilty of plagiarism isn't bad enough, I have to acknowledge I think like FH. :hihi:
There was a thread about this when it all went down. Usually a recruits scholarship wouldn't be pulled, but Luther lied to the coaches, which is why his was pulled. Saban's policy is, "You shop, we shop". Miles' policy is, "If you want to take your visits, then we don't consider you to be a commitment". Peterson is a current commit that wants to take his other visits. We'll see what happens with that...
Jordan Jefferson will be a Tiger if he gets an offer. There's no need to rush giving him an offer when the coaches have only seen very little of him (he was injured most of last year). He did do well in his jamboree game recently though. I don't know who else you're talking about in-state... prentiss waggner?
