You're probably right, my grandmother had Parkinson's, so I'm a little familiar with the problems and symptoms. This would be a smart move to take the full stress of the position off of him and shoulder the load.
I wouldn't speculate too much. How many OC's had their offensive average over 500 yards a game, have 4000 yard passer, and have a 1000 yard rusher and win 9 games. See 2004.
It is curious why Stud was chosen and not Billy G, but that being said, the offense isn't going to change, Stud is going to want to pound the football, Billy G can work with the passing game, and Krag with the QB's, which was kind of what I thought was going to happen in the first place, with the exception of Stud calling plays. But those plays are going to be Les approved plays anyway. I think as far as football goes this isn't as big a deal as it sounds. Now for Kragthorpe it's horrible.
Hopefully he is a better OC than he is an OL coach, because he hasn't produced. If the OL is too big a job for him in the SEC nothing makes me think the OC won't have him even deeper in over his head.
part of me feels selfish for even worrying about football, when krags and his family are facing a progressive disease such as parkinsons. but i am. everything i am reading says that krags will have input into the offense, but the final play calling decisions will be studs. lets hope that stud listens very closely to whatever krags has to say. but really between stud and bg, there just is not a good choice either way. neither have been stellar at their position, imo. but stud does have experience as oc, bg none. when between rock and a hard place, i guess the rock was chosen. i hope that the fundamentals coaching jj has had really makes a difference. because we need all the help we can get now, and even an improved jj, not necessarily an outstanding jj, will help. although outstanding would be nice.
Omar Jacobs was legit in 2004 at BG with Stud there. 41 TDs and 4 INTs. Gave up 11 sacks that year too. He had some potent offenses at BG during his years there, the defense was the culprit in most of their losses. I remember a game where they almost beat OU in Norman. Krag will still be there helping out too. Another issue...does that mean we go out and get a new OC after this season?
I'm just trying to wrap my head around it. Dude had stellar, I mean stellar, numbers as an OC. So why did he get demoted to OL coach somewhere along the way? However, I think that someone can be an excellent OC and a questionable OL coach. For example, since we're talking about Bowling Green, I doubt Urban Meyer would have been a great OL coach.
I agree 100%, it just goes against all logic to promote someone to a higher position that is struggling in his/her current job. Flashbacks to Malveto.
Because he went from Bowling Green to LSU with the hopes of a promotion like this perhaps. Definitely not under these circumstances though. I saw on his bio that he was an assistant head coach in 2006 so he has experience as a play caller and leader. I also found it interesting that LSUSports.net already updated his position to 'offensive coordinator'
