Why should there be a rematch?

The #1 team already beat the #2 team. There will be another #2 in mid-December.

Theoretically, I believe in that. Practically, I don't and here's why.

Michigan and tOSU came into their final game in 2006 1, 2. tOSU won by 3 points in a very close game. Michigan drops one spot with their one loss. Looks like a rematch in the BCSNCG, but the voters did not want to see that, infuriating much of the Big-10. tOSU got paired up against FU in the BCSNCG and Michigan had to play USC in the Rose Bowl. Both Big-10 schools got waxed.

My point is, this is a tough problem and a lot of consideration needs to be given to what we all want and will see. I don't believe in whim voting, either. Tough problem.

I never said the system is perfect.. Regardless of what you think, these two teams are probably the best in the country.. If Stanford and OSU lose the human polls would have to purposely move Bama down a good bit to make up for the computer points, this isn't likely to happen..

No, but they could well move OU up. At that point OU and Bama are both one-loss teams with close losses at home.

If OSU & Stanford lose, Alabama could have an easier path to the BCS championship than LSU. LSU would still have to win an extra game in the SEC championship just to have an opportunity to play a team (Alabama) we've already beat...on their field.

That's why I don't think it should happen. I'm not afraid to play them again. I just don't think it's fair if this scenario plays out.

The pollsters may start tinkering with their votes to ensure it does or doesn't happen. I'm sure many don't want to see a rematch while others don't want to guarantee another title for the SEC.

LSU just needs to take care of business and not worry about the polls. The next five will be tough but considering the nine we've already played...I have no doubt they can do it.

    REMAIN ON TARGET! :tigereye:

You're missing the point that the computers may have Bama high enough that being behind OU in both human polls will put Bama in the game.

Just because #1 already beat #2 doesn't change the fact of who the second best team in the country is.. I'm not saying I think this is what should happen, I'm saying this is probably what will happen and all the griping about it won't change it..

OU cannot escape from the fact that they lost to a mediocre team, at best, at home that they were a 4 TD favorite against. That is going to be hard to overcome if it comes down to a one-loss bama v. a one-loss OU, imo.

Last I checked, the humans still get 2/3 of the final BCS score. If the voters want someone besides Bama in the NCG, they will put in someone besides Bama.

And that is obviously Bama? OU has been on a tear since the TT game. As many pundits as there were that hailed LSU/Bama as a defensive masterpiece, there are also a large number who saw a pathetic offensive showcase. A lot of people, including voters, want to see a team with a high-powered offense if LSU wins out, and that favors a 1-loss Oregon, Stanford, Okie State, and even OU instead of Bama.

I'll try and go slow for you this time...

    1) If bama is right behind OU in both human polls then the points they get from the computers may very well put them above OU in the BCS. The human polls would actually have to punish Bama by moving someone up between the two teams.

    2) If you haven't checked yet, you should look at the polls that came out yesterday and see where Bama is in relationship to OU regardless of who or what OU has been tearing..

People want to argue with me about this although I've stated this isn't what I think should happen but more what will probably happen if Stanford and OSU lose and LSU and Bama win out... Get yout iron out and spray a lil starch on your panties so they stop riding up your crack...

Believe me, if LSU & bama win out, Ok. St. & Stanford lose but Boise goes undefeated, this is the year they give Boise a shot. How could they not? B/c bama lost to the #1 team in their house? They will never give a rematch for bama. The country would be drooling to see if Boise can really do it with their high flying offense vs. LSU's stout D. It would be huge!
