If you look at our roster we have about 12 or so HS QBs. HS coaches are putting their best athletes at QB especially in LA. That doesn't mean they are college QBs.
You certainly didnt have to respond if you didnt want to, but obviously we do, because IF Darron Thomas had came to LSU he would be sitting on our bench not as a QB but as a RB/WR -
I know, and I agree about coaches putting their best player at QB in HS, but this was mainly in regards to the fact that we would not have Given Darron Thomas a shot at QB and he supposedly decided to go to Oregon over LSU because of that. Then the question remains and I have to obviously trust the coaching staff on this but, out of 10 HS QB’s we recruited, NOT A SINGLE ONE can surface and become the starter for this team! OR Is our offensive scheme or lack of, just not fit FOR ANY QB to be successful? – At what point do you pull out ALL the stops and search your roster for a diamond in the rough - We have had QB issues for 3 seasons now, and coming out of the spring game, the issues were not ANY closer to being resolved!
Don't believe everything Darron Thomas says. He dropped LSU because we got a commitment from JJ and he thought he would be the only one. Oregon probably used that to sway him their way. None of the HS QBs recruited for other positions on our roster were ever considered legitimate college QBs by LSU and most ever school that recruited them. All of them knew coming in that they weren't QBs themselves. The QB depth problem comes from the attrition we have had at the position.
I'm sorry, I didn't mean to come off that harsh. I just see that brought up SO MANY times and there seems to be a truckload of misinformation out there that it's frustrating. Maybe it shouldn't be, but whatever. Both of the QBs we are seeing are our best QBs. The passing game problem is is a wholesale issue...not just one or two players. The O-Line has to block. The receivers need to run their routes and CATCH BALLS :cussjust in case they're listening). AND the QBs need to get the balls to them. JLee plays a tight game when he's given time to throw. The playcalling is really handicapping his game. JJ is just plain late and off-target...but he's getting a lot of yards on the ground. The real issue here is...which offense are we going to be? We don't know, and that's the issue. IMO, JJ is getting good enough at the read-option that we could have success in a triple-option scheme. And JLee is good enough in the passing game to run a pro-style set. This hybrid-crap we have going right now is not suited to either.
Agreed, 100%, - I know I have Bama picked to win this game, but If LSU plays consistently & up to their potential, meaning (Doesnt have to be perfect as USCe did in thier win against Bama) but just consistent enough to sustain drives, score points and limit Bama's snaps, giving our defense a breather - we have a LEGIT shot at not just winning this game, but actually outplaying and beating Bama if that makes sense. Its on the the coaches.
Which QB was worse at 111? Actually, if you'll recall, Jimbo Fisher faced the same criticism by a large portion of the fanbase when he was here - he didn't know how to 'develop' a QB and his offense was getting predictable.
He is 111 out of 112. My mistake.....and Patrick Nicely AKR at 112 has one more TD and 559 more yards than JJ.:dis:
where does lee rank? or even better, if you totaled up JJ and Lee's stats, where would that mutant quaterback rank?
:hihi: Mutant QB :hihi: I would guess that JJ's stats bring them down a lot. Lee is probably twice or three times the passer. But JJ DOES do some good things, and I don't totally hate it when he's in the game...as long as he's not trying to throw from the pocket.
