What is really the problem with our passing game? You would think even a simple scheme would produce more than 600 yards and 2 TD. I was looking at the nations stats for qb and JJ is 110 out of 111 qb's in the nation. I knew this already just really stood out when its on paper. How does a top tier school end up with such horrible ability at qb? 109 of the other guys are better than ours, what happened? I would think even if you scaled everything back and executed basic plays you would have more than what we got. What say you?
Bad coaching and a lack of red zone execution. We can't get into the end zone unless it's on the legs of Ridley or JJ, with the fade against UF being one glaring exception.
Considering Lee has what, half the pass attempts of JJ and the same number of TD passes... coupled with almost 2,000 yards passing and a decent TD count from the '08 season, you'd think the answer would be obvious as to who should get the playing time. Seems the coaching staff here is using LSU as the most lucrative welfare cash cow in the country. Must be rough to make great money for doing just about absolutely nothing.
Ok i know people like to reference the Gary Crowton only staying somewhere for so long, and his team's offensive performance slipping. Has he ever coached any quarterback that has done as poorly as these 2? Could it be that Jarrett Lee and Jordan Jefferson just suck really, really, really bad?
Could possibly be... but if that's the case then he should be kicked in the nuts and banned from LSUs campus... seeing as how this staff hasn't tried all apparent QB options they instead choose to continue with something that apparently is broke and shows no sign of being fixed. Not saying he'd be the difference, but instead of riding 2 dead horses why not try something new like trying either RS or Ware at QB, pretty sad when a RB shows to have better passing skills then two 3 years QBs... just saying.
Ding Ding Ding... right on point. But then again GC has shown throughout the years he knows just about jack squat on how to coach up young and raw talent. It's too bad they don't make a pill for his problems.
yeah but if you listen to Les all through his press conferences it's easy to tell he goes by what they do at practice. Think about it, Perrilloux gone, Garrett gone, Lee gone, what do they have left? Shepard? He can't remember the damn playbook, Ware? Ok, sure give it a shot, but it's not going to happen with a 7-1 record.
With the possible exception of Tim Rattay, the only other possibility is Gary Crowton has been the unluckiest, most unfortunate, most snake-bitten OC to ever coach at this level, saddled with an extaordinary number of bad QBs in his career. Now that this has happened repeatedly at multiple schools, I don't believe that AT ALL. Of course you start out with players of varying natural ability. But it's not like Lee or Jefferson never played QB in HS and were just a couple of scrubs who walked onto the squad. I absolutely do not buy that both of these kids are naturally bad QBs, and I certainly don't buy that bad coaching has had nothing to do with their mental conditioning, confidence and football knowledge/IQ.
