It can't be said enough. This whole thing was a calculated move to use the hurricane as an excuse to get out of playing LSU. If it would have been Vanderbilt or Mississippi State this game would have been played.
If Sankey wants this game played on the 19th so badly, then he does it on our terms. Which should include, at a minimum, SEC compensation for all direct financial obligations/losses (USA contract, ticket refunds, etc.), as well as a neutral site for the game. No way we reward these asshats for pulling this stunt.
I'm going to beat the drum again. With the way Florida handled this whole situation, they should be forced to forfeit this game.
In a just world where the SEC is a competent and non-corrupt organization, yes. In the real world, Foley would run to the nearest camera and play the victim card about punishing UF for being concerned about safety, players' families, blah blah blah. Besides, Sankey needs to save face, and forcing a forfeit at this point would be an admission of weakness. He better hope that Tennessee overachieves the next few weeks, or Florida sneaking into the SECCG will put this issue squarely back into focus again in December.
I never heard anyone trying to defend LSU back in '05 when we had to play in AZ, and push the UT game back to Monday night after Katrina and Rita.
This Florida situation reminds me what's becoming all too familiar - the SEC operates like a small town with a corrupt sheriff (Commissioner) who listens to the wealthy owner of the bank (Bama). I wish LSU would tell conference to F off and haul ass. Of course $ won't allow that.
