Why is the running game so bad this year?

We just finished playing 4 creampuffs and our best RB hasn’t cracked 200 yards on the season yet. I don't know about you but I am loosing my patience. No wonder why Jefferson is having all this trouble. We got no running game. The way football works is you set the pass up by using the run. How do we fix this problem? :geaux::geauxtige:LSU231:LSU!:geaux:

easy, spread the field. Teams are loading the box, and the only way to make them back off, is to be effective in the passing game. Make the safeties play back, spread em out by throwing downfield. If all we do is run up the middle or off tackle, then throw little short routes, whats the point of playing the safeties deep, and having the linebackers play off the line. Start running the QB option play. Give Jefferson 3 plays, based on what the defense shows, change the play to one of the 3 you are given at the line of scrimmage. Jefferson has to get good at reading defenses, that is key. That is what makes Tebow really great. But i really don't see us changing our offensive style. We really just need to be way more effective throwing the ball downfield, so the safeties and linebackers have to play off the line and the ball. Once that happens, the running game will be back to normal.

The 4 teams that have loaded the box have talent that is far inferior to the talent on LSU's O Line. I am especially disappointed in the play of Ciron Black along with the rest of the O line. They should have been able to blow open holes for Scott and Williams no matter what defensive scheme they faced. Nebraska just beat ULL 55-0. Is the Husker's O Line more talented than the Tiger's? I don't think so.

Now we move into the meat of the schedule. Georgia, Florida and Alabama have players every bit as talented as LSU's players. SOMETHING HAS TO CHANGE!

I watched Iowa upset Peen State Saturday. In crunch time Iowa Coach Ferenz trusted a true freshman running back (I thing hos name is Wegner) to run the ball and keep the chains moving. We have a player who is probably every bit as talented as Tim Tebow or Tony Dorsett or Herschel Walker were as true freshmen. His name is Russell Shepard. CLM needs to make RS an intregal part of the offense and he should have done it before now

Why do I care? Better things to do? Look here John I can’t sleep at night knowing that the Tigers have a enormous opportunity this year and are about to blow it. You may be one of those guys that like colorful balloons and fire trucks but LSU means a great deal to me. I expect a lot from this team and I am accustomed to a good running game. From Dalton and Hookie to Harvey Williams and Gary James from Rondell Mealy and Kevin Faulk to Cecil Collins and Slip Watkins this years running backs owe it to past generations to put up bigger numbers and score more then 3 TD's in four games. There was a time not to long ago when Joseph Addie and Jacob Hester demanded respect and tattooed any defender that got in their way. This years backs seem soft to me. I will not sit back and take this lack of effort and half ass work ethic and be happy with squeaking bye crappy teams. Its time for these guys to start stiff-arming mother fu(ker$ in the face. Get their heads down and fight for that extra yard. But that’s just me. Last I checked it was tackle football not this fumbling run out of bounds get dropped behind the line of scrimmage being armed tackled sissy ball these guys are playing. Earn that scholarship and bust some ass for Christ sake!

I cut that part out of my post before you even spent all this time writing this whole response. Basically, let's say God himself gives you the answer to how to solve LSU's running game. What do you do with that info? And how is that going to make you feel any better?

The interior of our line is simply getting manhandled. We're very weak from guard to guard.

The offensive line is not the problem. Individually our linemen are doing ok.
The defenses are stacking the line against us and we are trying to run right into it, time after time and getting stuffed. 5 offensive linemen can't block 7. They are simply outnumbered. I say if they want to put 7 of their players in one small space then let them, even encouirage them with play action. That leaves them with 4 players to cover all that other space. We got 4 players too and I'll match LaFell, Tolliver, Dickson and Shepherd etc. one on one against anybody. SHEPHERD you say? Yes, we got the best guy in space in the whole country but he's sitting on the bench most of the time. Put him in as sort of a Harvin type in the backfield. Belly fake to Scott into the stacked line, then quick pass to LaFell, Toliver, Dickson or option, swing pass, flare or whatever to Shepherd. Put Shepherd in space and I guarantee that will make their azzes scramble. ( I keep gettin time out so continuee on next post.)
