The solution, just do this to make yourself feel better each and every day. When you turn on your computer, open up a new file - call it President Barack Obama - send it 2 your recycling bin - empty recycle bin - PC will ask if you want to delete President Barack Obama - Firmly click "yes" - feel better now, good - tomorrow we will work on the rest of congress and the senate.
I 100% disagree with the assessment that Iraq was a "failure". Landmark elections were just held. Let's at least wait until we've left and how well the country is able to hold up on its own before we decide whether it is a "success" or a "failure". If you ask me, a failure would constitute pulling all our troops out as quickly as possible and leaving the country in worse shape than it was before. By all accounts (and my own personal experience), I'd say it wasn't a failure at all. And I think the same should be applied to Afghanistan, when the time comes.
it is debatable that there has been or will be any positive result from the war. for me thats not worth the $ and effort that could have been expended elsewhere.
1. On schedule is an accomplishment? 2. Following the Taliban all over the F'in map is an accomplishment? 3. It wasn't Bush. It was a policy depression created by FED b/c of easy credit and spending. They spent more and borrowed more to prop up pricing. Which will collapse again in the future. The dollar is stronger than what, a year ago? Oh that really counts. And we don't know who "everyone" is paying back. Not to mention what assets we paid for a what price. Accomplishment?
So the dollar is stronger than what? What we base the strength of our dollar on is by the world economy, exchange rates, and gold. Well gold is through the roof, and the world economy sucks so bad there are countries in Europe right now threatening default. So yeah, I guess the dollar is stronger, but only figuratively. Once the rest of the world economy picks back up and inflation rises to the moon and taxes increase to pay for Washington spending, the dollar will be worthless. We better hope that China holds onto the treasury bills that they currently own too, or that will even further depress the dollar in the world market.
China has to hold on to their treasuries. Where else are they going to park 1 trillion dollars? They also cannot afford to have the dollar tank. Their entire economy is basedo n us buying their cheap crap. If we can't but it they can't eat.
China has already sold back over 50billion in bonds since january 1. I don't think it is out of the question that they get out of US treasuries altogether. US-China relations are very strained especially with the US-Taiwain arms deal.
I can't think of any period in history where the two greatest superpowers on the planet didn't have some sort of confrontation. Allowing the Chinese to have the ability to wreck the US economy is a terrible idea and the idea that they would never do it is stretching it. In most war game scenarios that I have read about the US military makes the assumption that China forces the dollar down considerably although never to zero.
