Why does it seem that everyone is panicking over this Class?

For an Avg Class ranking of 7.55...

as i see it we are on par with our recruiting averages for the decade and we have produced lots of wins with that average as well as 2 BCS NC's and 4 SEC Champs etc....
So why the panic over a top 10 class...

One theory is the fact that if the LA guys that defected came here and Gunner we would have for sure been a Nr 1 Class....

Becuse people get overly excited about the whims of a 17-18 year old and hate when "Some other" teams gets press because some 18 year old chose that school instead of LSU.
So when they are on the golf course they cannot brag about "getting the #1 kid out of X state" our class is boring to many because no 5 stars or major skill players. Kiel bailing on his commitment also played a role.
So you put the fact our class is "boring" lots of needs players, all committed many moons ago, we are not in the spotlight for getting any major recruits lately, no one at the all-star games put on "An LSU hat" even though we had several who already did.

And lastly because people put WAY to much stock into recruiting rankings and stars.

AND the fact Bama took the top two prospects in the state of Louisiana which really has people a bit upset.

Too caught up in the recruiting hype I guess. Not everyone keeps up with recruiting and overreact to what is perceived as a sub par class. This is still a great class. Not an ok class. A great class. A bunch of impact players that 99% of schools would love to have. We have the luxury of unmatched depth so sometimes we miss out on some kids that want to play right away. Little do most of these kids know that no matter where they go, they have to compete for a spot. They are dominant in highschool and they all think they are the best so in their minds they are ready to play. Not saying all think that but alot of the "superstars" at the top of the rankings with 4 and 5 stars next to their names. The coaches no who can play in the SEC and who can't

 

You guys are spot on....this is a great class. It is a great class because it addresses the needs of our team. bhelm commented in an earlier thread that this class was essentially set months ago and the coaches left some spots open in case they could land a big fish at the last minute, and they still might. Depending upon how many juniors declare for the draft we could have a similar recruiting year next year. This is a very young team and the rest of the SEC....hell, for that matter, the rest of the country better get used to seeing LSU playing for championships year in and year out for a while.

 

This class is actually a good one because we recruit for NEED. We NEED Linebackers...we GOT 5 quality LB's.

We will also finish strong...as always.

 

and landon collins is only going to bama because his girlfriend has a scholly there
