Not sure exactly. He resigned but you know how those go sometimes, resign or be fired. Not sure if it fits here anyway cause I wouldn't count where he was as "elite" nor where he went as a "step up". I do consider him to be a good coach though. I just didn't like QBLuke calling JS dumb (or anyone being called dumb, for that matter) for saying it and acting like it never happened.
ok then in recent memory (lets say the last 10 years or so), how many coaches willing left one top tier school for another? off the top of my head, i can only come with: Rich Rod left WVU for Michigan Kiffen leaving UT for USC
I guess it depends on what you are calling "top programs" Which in itsself has changed drastically over the last 15 years
i don't. an undefeated Cincinnati team was never even considered for the National Championship game last year. Heck, they were usually 5th in line when discussing unbeatens last season. an undefeated Notre Dame team would be almost guaranteed a spot in the game.
Notre Dame today is like Army was when Paul Dietzel left LSU for there in the 60's. Great reputation but past greatness.
let me rephrase. Kelly went undefeated his last season at Cincy. His team was never even talked about in the NC picture. Not once. At Notre Dame, if he goes undefeated, he WILL be in the title picture. that makes Notre Dame a step up from Cincy. and to answer your question, it's only 2 in a row.
