Give up Nootch...you cannot win an argument with common sense here.
    -
Saban wasn't on other college team's list. The reason is simple. There aren't any steps up in the college game from an LSU type program. Any move would be lateral, and it ain't gonna happen.

As far as Crowton goes, it's because he sucks. As Nootch said.

Michigan isnt a step down? oh the alma mater thing right? so if its the blessed alma mater why isnt he gone? You are telling me Herbie stopped it? Or did Michigan stop it?

You mean Miles let herbie dictate where he coached and his chance to go to his alma mater?

doesnt make sense. Michigan didnt want him, look at Miles Pressor, he was mad but not at the Media. Like hell he didnt want the job.

they're the winningest team in the history of college football.

some coaches leave a job to go to their alma mater.
    some don't.

    wtf?

herbie prolly had little/nothing to do with if michigan offered, or if miles accepted.
all he did was report what he heard.

no one on this board knows what really happened.
it's all guess work, nothing more, nothing less.

Are you dumb? Schools don't raid elite programs for coaches ... LSU isn't a stepping stone.

Guys like Skip Holtz and Turner Gill get on short lists for coaching jobs, not the big time coaches like Miles and Mack Brown.

Regardless of your agenda, you must realize that schools aren't trying to hire Les Miles because they realize he's already at his dream job ... If he turned down his alma mater, why the hell would another school try to pursue him, knowing he's not leaving LSU for anybody?

You are dumb, this was a dumb thread, and your dumb agenda is dumb.

If you think UM is a step down from LSU, you are a moron beyond what I already believe you to be. UM is the winningest program in the history of college football.

That is the very problem with this fanbase. They think college football started in the year Y2K. Morons.

Special circumstance, kind of like Michigan going after Miles. Ultimately, Miles said no, Kiffin said yes. Depends on the person, but certain coaches at certain programs wouldn't leave for all the money in the world. Guys like Frank Beamer, Mack Brown and Les Miles. These are the guys who schools don't even bother with trying to raid anymore.

Kiffin does not fall in that category, because he was a proven scumbag before then.

Unfortunately for us, Miles phucked up his opportunity to go to the school at which he's openly admitted wanting to coach. Low & behold, it was a "timing" issue.

    What about Houston Nutt?

This is not the 70's and 80's. Coaches just do not stay anywhere very long due to the money.

Schools are always looking for an upgrade.
