Assume that CO2 produced by human activity was causing the Earth's climate to warm in a manner that posed a danger to the planet. You would think that environmentalists would be sounding the trumpets to counteract this CO2 increase by PLANTING MORE TREES. Indeed, that is what they used to support long before anyone ever heard of AGW. Now that it "makes sense" to do this, you never hear a word about it, and especially from the Greenies. Why is that?
Because planting new trees doesn't pay those rich bastards back for being so rich. We need to regulate, cap and trade and tax their money away. That will improve the environment.
It's because YOU haven't bother to look or pay attention. You won't finds anything on FOX. Google "plant trees to combat global warming and it will bring up 4 million hits. It's because YOU don't go to where "Greenies" write, like the Sierrra Club. And you don't pay any attention to who they give their money to, like the Nature Conservancy, which buys forests to keep them from being depleted. Or the Audubon Society or the National Wildlife Federation that protects forest habitats. Or the Forest Stewardship Council that promotes sustainable forest management
It does when you manage a sustainable forest. You keep cutting timber while replanting and allowing continuous regrowth. And you get rich from the timber and hunting leases, while sustaining wildlife habitats, eliminating your carbon footprint, providing vital timber for the construction trade, employment for America forest workers, lots of oxygen for everybody and preserving old-growth stands.
So, where are all of these people planting trees? I sure haven't heard anything about tree plantings. So, you can do us a favor and let us know when you hear of the next planting in SE Louisiana. BTW, none of the items you listed were tree plantings. WHERE IS THE NATIONAL CAMPAIGN TO PLANT TREES TO COMBAT GLOBAL WARMING?
Did you bother to look? :dis: You didn't bother to check, did you? The Forest Stewardship Council is all about planting trees. EVER HEAR OF ARBOR DAY? Everyone Can Plant a Tree; Global Warming at arborday.org Gee "Doctor", don't you know how to use a computer? Do you think I'm here to look up stuff for you? You keep asking me questions and I answer them, and instead of discussing the response, you just ask more cynical questions. Either discuss the issues or I won't bother with you anymore. Just Google "plant trees to combat global warming". You'll learn something, like this . . . UNEP-BillionTree Campaign Site Plant a Billion Trees - People Worldwide Pledge to Fight Global Warming Trees for the Future > Restoring Degraded Lands to Sustainable Productivity Greenworks - Reduce - Reuse - Recycle - Respect Plant A Billion Trees - one dollar at a time - with The Nature Conservancy and about a million other hits . . .
No that you have this new knowledge of tree planting efforts remember to plant trees that are endemic to your area. I pass by dead Magnolias and Cypress trees here in drought stricken north Texas that were meant to beautify streets and common areas around town.:yelwink2:
Oh, I see. It's up to the individual to do something about planting trees. I thought that "you" said that the Earth would suffer dire consequences if AGW global warming was not halted immediately. So, those most concerned about this issue are leaving it up to the individual to plant trees instead of marching in the streets to demand tree planting. Good plan!
" But the Sierra Club - like other major environmental groups - is by no means poor. At the end of 2009, it had more than $170 million in assets between its activist wing and its education foundation. The Nature Conservancy ended last year with $5.65 billion in assets, after taking in $210.5 million in revenue. The World Wildlife Fund had $377.5 million in assets as of June 2010, after scraping together $177.7 million for the fiscal year. And the National Audubon Society had $305.9 million stashed away at the end of last year. The Environmental Defense Fund, Earthjustice, the Natural Resources Defense Council, and almost every other national “green” group you’ve ever heard of are similarly “impoverished.” And then there are the foundations - dozens if not hundreds of them - that finance environmental activism. Among their benefactors: the Energy Foundation ($68.6 million in assets), the Joyce Foundation ($773.6 million), the Rockefeller Brothers Fund ($729 million), the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation ($6.8 billion), the David and Lucile Packard Foundation ($5.7 billion), and Heinz Endowments ($1.2 billion)." There's a lot of money out there for tree planting. Must not be a high priority. Wait, won't tree planting help stop AGW? Ergo, stopping AGW must not be a high priority.
