In 10 years at LSU Les Miles has won 2 SEC Championships and 1 National Championship. CLM has also lost 1 of each. Saban accomplished the same things in 5 years and has gone on to become a thorn in our side and has won 3 more championships since leaving. So my question is what's up with the love affair. Most will say it's because of the seasons of 10+ wins or that he has the most wins in LSU history. But what about the losses? I'm tired of losing to Alabama. I think it's time to part ways with CLM
Yeah, we should part ways with a guy who has won 102 games in less than 10 seasons. Saban was just so much better with his 48 wins in 5 seasons. And if that chump can do it, that means anyone we hire could too.
If you're using Sabans success as a measuring stick to fire coaches there would only be one head football coach in the entire NCAA with a job tomorrow. Other than Saban what current coach has had more success than Miles? I'm thinking it's going to be a very short list. Miles definitely has his shortcomings, but that's not a fair measuring stick to go by.
Be honest with yourself. The reason why his 102 win are discussed, is to celebrate Miles for something that Saban didn't do. No one talks about Saban's wins, but they do talk about his National Championships. Les Miles was a coach with a 7-5 record and a bowl loss when he was hired. He was never qualified to even be considered at LSU. If not for Skip Bertman he would be a O-line coach somewhere.
And Saban was a combined 34-24-1 in his five seasons as Michigan state head coach before being hired at LSU. Using your logic Miles was more qualified than Saban.
That's not the reason that he needs to go. It's because of the constant underachieving. We all love the fact that we stockpile NFL talent, but that talent hasn't been performing lately. You can only blame that on one person. There is only 1 other team in the west that has the talent that we do. So that means that other coaches are doing more with less.
If he would recruit QB's instead of RB's to play the position and include the forward pass in his playbook you would see the level of success increase greatly.
