When The U was still great former greats like Warren Sapp and Michael Irving would come back and jump down the throats of players who weren't upholding the greatness of their position. OBJ and Landry need to do that with the present crop of receivers
This... the U was my second favorite team behind LSU because of this... they had a swagger like they wanted to beat whom ever was on the other side of the line... Look at the recent ESPN specials on them from the 80-00's, they were bad ass.. hell, when Butch left, they practically picked their own head coach because they knew they were good enough to beat any team in the country... the locker room wouldn't allow some of the shit we saw on Saturday (lack of effort, dropped passes, etc.)...
Him and Desean. And I agree. Why even recruit guys like that? Maybe the answer is more obvious than we think...Colin Jeter. I'm sure it has something to do with them possibly not being great blockers. I'm not a fan of this scheme but hey, opportunities are there. The way teams load the box I'm amazed we haven't seen a TE seam route right up the middle.
Really! As good as they were at times I don't want any team I pull for to do anything like thug U did back in the day. If the coaches and players on the team now can't motivate them you don't have the right coaches and players.
I understand why we don't use them in the I formation or 2 receiver sets. But a 3 and 4 receiver set? As much as LSU runs the football you would think using those guys on PA would work, now defenses would key in on that eventually but shit, bring it out against Alabama, or let those guys get some reps trying to block in the run game against the McNeese's of the world. I totally agree with you though, why even recruit them. Why would a good pass catching TE want to even come to LSU? Jeter was a walk on for god's sake and Smith and Washington were both highly sought after.
