Crow never understood when to use it, so we all learned to hate it. Properly done at the proper time with the proper personnel, the option is a beautiful and dangerous weapon.

I think both Lee and Jefferson are better off the bench, than they are as starters. I think they both do well when having 2-3 series and then sitting out one. For that reason, I happen to think IF Lee can not move the team like Miles thinks he should in the first 3-4 series, we will see Mettenberger for several series in this game. I don't mind the QB rotation, IF it works. However, at some point, I think Mettenberger sets himself apart from JL and JJ and works his way in to lots of PT this season.

What about the guy(magee?) that was playing the opposing team qb in practice? If he could play the role as a running qb for our defense to practice aginst why couldn't he come in as a change of pace/ option qb to throw off the ducks? It seems like a trick out the ole hat.

I said it earlier in a post on here somewhere else, but LSU has 14 or more former HS QB's on their team that are playing other positions: Shepard, Randle, Ware, just to name a few. LSU is set for the wildcat, IF they choose to add that wrinkle. I think Magee has been mentioned or Paul Turner. However, I think a lot of fans forget we signed the #9 rated QB in the country last year, about 2 weeks after signing day, in Jared Randall. I know LSU probably wants to redshirt him, but I think he has also got to be on the short list to see some playing time at QB in the Oregon game or any game this year if our current QB situation struggles. He is a bigger version of Shepard, which makes him a legit QB.
