i said in the chatroom during the 1st half (after the int) that j lee wasn't ready for a game like this, that he looked like a deer in the headlights, and that the one glaring mistake the coaching staff had made was putting in lee when hatch was managing the game...... yeah i'm leg humpin' j lee alright.... he had a 2nd half that will be talked about for years to come.

bet he never has to buy a beer (except maybe on the plains....) :)

because it was the most amazing performance by a LSU QB in a long time. you could argue---ever. seriously, i was floored.

it was his first serious PT.

he efffed up royally in the first half

big game, tough environment, tough D.

perfect throws as he was being nailed.

His performance reminded me of that game a few years ago when JR had that awful start in the Swamp with the 2 INTS that set Florida up inside LSU's 5 each time. Everybody thought it was over at 14-0 and with JR getting injured in the game. But then Marcus Randall came in and had the game of his life. We scored, fell behind again 21-7, and then went on the win the game 24-21 on the pass to Addai in the closing seconds. That was awesome. That's what it felt like last night.

It also reminded me of that year when Mauck came in the SEC Championship Game because of an injury to Davey with no experience and brought us to victory against #2 Tennessee. We had Toefield out, Davey out and were hugely outnumbered by screaming Tennessee's fans. But we still got the W.

Hatch actually hit his head on Bret Helm's leg as he was going down, saw it on the Cox replay tonight.

If this is your outlook for the game you don't know very much about football. What Lee done was something not many other QBs at his age could have done. This is why we are all so high on him. He needs to maintain this level of play to actually be considered a great QB. The future looks very bright for this kid.

The pass to Lafell happened because Lee recognized a SAFETY not a Cornerback was covering him. The safety didn't have enough speed to get the INT or cover Lafell. That's why it was an easy TD.

Yes we had a few coverage issues but for the most the secondary played very well. AU is not as bad on offense as they showed the previous games.

Why all the leg humping for Jarrett Lee? Because he is the only LSU QB in over a decade to beat AU at AU. Because he threw one pick, not 6 like other LSU QBs have done. Because he led the team to 20 more points in the second half alone than our #1 draft pick did in a whole game there 2 years ago.

Because he persevered, and showed the heart of a TIGER.

I agree. I love Marcus Randall for that 2004 game (props to Joe Addai as well). Coming back from being down 14 points to #12 Florida in the Swamp!?!??! That was one of my favorite moments as a Tiger fan... I'll never forget that experience.

Yes, we beat the crap out of Rex Grossman's #16 Florida in the Swamp in 2002 -- thank you Matt Mauck, Domanick Davis, Devery Henderson, Michael Clayton and most especially Grossman for your 4 INTs and 18-43 (40.6%) passing performance.

But the last time we beat Florida in the Swamp other than that was 1986 (f******g Spurrier).

Still, Spurrier was 68-5 (93.2%) at the Swamp over 12 seasons. His 5 home losses:

    2001 Tenn 32-34
    1999 Florida State 23-30
    1999 Bama 39-40
    1994 Auburn 33-36
    1993 Florida State 21-33

Compare to LSU's 3 seasons under Miles, two home losses:

    2007 Arkansas 48-50
    2005 Tenn 27-30

Or LSU's five seasons under Saban, five home losses:

    2003 Florida 7-19
    2002 Alabama 0-31
    2001 Florida 15-44
    2001 Ole Miss 24-35
    2000 UAB 10-13

KTeam hasn't chimed in on his own thread in a while. Wonder if he's realized the error of his ways. (For the record, I don't mean your opinion of Lee, but how it was presented)

Ya know, someone brought up a good example of Marcus Randall leading us back from 14 down in The Swamp a few years back and how not many would suggest that MR was the right QB for the team after that game; which is an excellent point. However, MR was a senior (I think) as compared with a red-shirt frosh, so there's still alot of upside (hopefully) with Lee, where as MR had probably maxed out his talent.
