Why all the leg humping for Jarrett Lee?

I watched my Tivo'd replay last night and still feel that all the praise Lee is getting isn't exactly justified, but he did make a transformation Saturday night, from scared freshman to confident passer. I still didn't like some of his decisions, and still think he really only completed 3 or 4 quality passes the entire game, but I was a little harsh.

The pass to Lafell for the final touchdown, on replay, I saw that Lafell was lined up on a safety (not a corner as i first thought), so the pass was justified as the safeties coverage isn't going to be as good as a corners. I think Saturday's game is one to build on, but I'm not crowning Lee the starter just yet.

I haven't exactly realized the error of my way, just changed my opinion of his performance slightly; and not due to this thread, but due to me rewatching the game and being more cognizant of the environment, the defensive schemes and other factors that went on throughout the game. If nothing else, we have a passer who has shown that he will not flake under pressure.

We have a passer that will really open things up for one Charles Scott, who hardly needs an opening anyway...

That alone might be enough of a reason to make him the starter and let it rest. I only hope he learns to look off the coverage and stops staring down his receiver, and if the throw is not there just throw it away. Experience, experience, experience.

We have to remember that Lee was hand-picked to succeed Perrilloux. It just wasn't supposed to be this year. Hatch was supposed to start just long enough to get Lee ready. We may be getting close.

Marcus Randall was NEVER the right QB for our team. It was unfortunate that he was playing the wrong position. He was a terrific athlete and should've been a WR or a DB. I think the problem was, in part, that we were thin at QB during his time here.

However, I'd also have to point out that I feel like Saban did JR and LSU a disservice in not using him as our starting/primary QB in '04, not allowing him to mature out there. Randall would've been better used somewhere else, and Matt Flynn would've been a good back-up for Russell.

That's fair, I do have a question for you. If Hatch doesn't get knocked out of the game and continues to get most of the snaps, do you think we win that game?

We would have seen more depth at tailback and different play-calling. Who knows what the outcome would have been, but Hatch WAS moving the chains (even at the expense of his own body). He's just NOT tebow.

Revisiting my previous post about Jarrett Lee, I feel even worse. I thought after he shook the bad start at Auburn he would get better, not great but better. That has not happened. I don't want a Sam Bradford, Colt McCoy, Grahaeme Harrill... I just want a QB that won't lose a game for LSU.

Jarrett Lee lost this game tonight. The coaching was also sub par (especially clock management which has haunted Les Miles throughout his career at LSU). Why do you not bring in Jefferson even for a change of pace? I don't understand what putting this entire game on Lee's shoulders and watching him crash and burn accomplished tonight... I don't see the logic in it. What happens if Lee gets injured next week... then we have a back up QB with no real experience.

I just don't understand this coaching staff anymore... no logic, bad play calls, to much loyalty... something needs to change and fast... we outplayed Bama all game... Lee is losing the team, they will quit on him and then things will get really ugly. Why not at least give Jefferson a couple snaps... could it be that "big" of a deal to see what this young man could do... is he in the dog house?

    Les?

P.S. did anyone watch the post game presser with Miles?

Oh and before the "freshman" tag gets brought out. Jarrett Lee is a redshirt freshman meaning he was there all last year, learning the system. This isn't his first rodeo... he should be a lot better then what I am seeing. Hell I think some of his team mates could be a lot better.

Running the Wild "Tiger" was possibly the gayest thing I have ever seen...

    What did he say?

And I liked the Wild Tiger play, especially in overtime.
