ESPN insider has an article about the possible benching of JJ and terrell Pryor due to lack of production. I am not an insider and I know they get subscribers by putting stories like this together. If anyone has insider access, it should be and interesting article. I think they are getting at JL over JJ, but I am not sure. What do you think?
no meat to the article. just 2 paragraphs saying the Times-Picayune is reporting fans aren't happy with the offense.
if you listen to miles press conf today on the lsusports.net website it doesn't sound at all like lee will play unless JJ is injured.
OK, not being able to see the entire article, I was only able to go off the first sentence. ESPN has really crappy journalism. How they can pull that out from the Times Picayune article is flabbergasting
And it's a damned shame, unless he's bluffing. Jefferson has done absolutely squat thus far, except take sacks. At his current pace we're looking at 36+ sacks on the season, and that surely does as much damage as Lee and his INTs.
No it doesn't. Not even close. Hopefully the off week and this week were spent on how to let JJ be JJ...and not trying to make him Peyton Manning. (pocket passer) Get him rolling out and throwing if it's there...running if it's not.
Yeah, I wouldn't say the guy hasn't done squat. He threw for 200+ in back to back games on the road so he has done some good things. He also played well against Washington. We are 5-1 without much of a running game. People will go nuts though if he keeps getting sacked like he has the last three games. It's unacceptable when you have the ability to run or throw it away. Some sacks are okay, but getting sacked on 4th down with basically the game on the line is bad. That's about the only case where I'd take an interception over a sack because at that point you at least want to give one of your receivers a chance to make a play. And if you're not gonna take off and run a little more, then you've eliminated one of the main reasons that you're difficult for teams to handle at times. The coaches are partly to blame for that because they seem to be basically trying to make him a pure passing QB. Yes, you usually want your QB to pass better than anything, but if he is a solid runner, you have to use those skills. You rarely ever see us run a QB draw or fake to the RB and run around the end. These are plays that could really work (and have), but they're trying to force other stuff. So he has got to step up more and do some different things. And the O-line has to stop totally collapsing in the 2nd half at times like they do. If we go 4-5 drives against Auburn and do nothing, then I'm all for trying another QB in the game to see if that would help anything. Hopefully we won't need to do that though. As for Ohio St. possibly benching Pryor, that would be interesting. Although I don't think he's the smartest guy or playing very well, their offense might really be bad if he's not in there because I just don't see the athletes on offense that they usually have. He seems to be it right now. But when you lose to a 1-5 Purdue team, you have to make some changes.
Think about that. For the last several years we have had top 5 recruiting classes. Everyone in the country admits we have talent up the wazoo. But our QB last year set an all time record for INt's with 16 and this year's QB may take 36 sacks? I bet that would be some sort of record as well. With our talent we shouldn't be setting these sort of records should we. So if it's not athletic talent then it has to be.......................
