If the cupboard is that bare, and Matt Canada is an offensive guru, why is he lining up and trying to the run the ball up the middle without a FB? I thought guru offensive coordinators (or just good ones) played to their strengths and away from their weaknesses. I haven't seen a whole lot of that yet. Although I really appreciated when Coach O slammed and broke his headset against Chattanooga when our O-line got pushed back on the goal line, I hope to see a better passing game this week. Even though I know we can line up and run on Syracuse (or at least we should).
I want this from our veteran players as well. Show some damn emotion and get those kids up to play. THIS IS LSU not freaking UL or ULM or southern or whoever. Have some pride.
Man I am sorry but you dont know much about Canada's offense. You run the middle to not only make sure and keep the defense honest but to make the jet sweep is more effevtive along with other perimeter plays such as screens. Also we dont have fullbacks we have h backs and we do use them to block and now catch more passes. Every team no matter what offense has to run the middle. If you think Canada's offense is fully installed you would be wrong. This young injured team will take a while to learn his system.
I think if you look at it LSU is in the same situation Texas was when Charley Strong took over. Charley strong had huge turnover in his early time trying to get rid of the same guys that LSU has. And the depth for Texas just wasn't there. And a lack of discipline etc. You can have good or great recruiting classes on paper if stars behind a name is all you are concerned about. But when 1 of 3 has the character to be a college player this is where LSU problems stem from. There are exceptions as Quinn and some of the guys that transferred who just weren't used correctly. But the Travonte Valentines etc that are football players but not college material that is where Dellinger in his article makes his point. On paper some of these recruits look great but what kind of people were we getting. Not ones that can stay qualified or out of jail or trouble. Now we are feeling the effects and Coach O better find a way to develop this young talent or it is going to be a tough few years. Their is talent on this team but it is raw. And God love him Etling does the best he can but with our oline and depth we need a qb on the field who can run for his life and make plays outside the pocket. With his feet and arm. Start the growing pains with who you consider to be your future starter and lets dig in this year and fight like hell in the foxhole.
If not they better find one cause . How long do you think etling will stay healthy with the hits he has been taking.
No apology necessary and considering he has been LSU's offensive coordinator all of 3 games I don't think any of us know much about Matt Canada's offense, that includes you. I suppose you're going to tell me you went back and watched all of Pitts games. Give me a break jack.
I dont know Canada's offensive yet either but I do know football fundamentals and it appears you dont. I have watched his offense while at Pitt not all but enough to understand what he is trying to do. If you think because we run "up the middle" we are foolish its you who is the fool. All plays are part of setting up a defense making them cover the whole field and "up the middle" is essential to any offense.
