Harris is a better runner and a better passer. Harris can throw the 9, Jennings can't. Whoever starts won't be asked to do much so why not let the one with the higher upside get the snaps. I think it will be Harris.
Except Miles' history suggests that won't happen. Witness last year....several opps for Jennings to play a full quarter or more, but The Hat would stay with Mett until about the 5:00 mark. Then Jennings wouldn't get to run anything but read options and QB draws. He had no practical experience at running the normal game plan going into the bowl game. And that was during a season when Miles knew he had to be preparing a QB for next year. Prediction....Jennings plays, Harris mops up. It stays that way unless AJ completely screws the pooch well into mid-season.
Harris may have a hell of an arm, can he go through progressions, does he have a brain, how accurate is he, does he continue to look downfield when the pocket collapses???? I know I shouldn't judge him by one skills test but the guy couldn't hit the broadside of a barn, plenty of arm, no accuracy.
Hudspeth would run that too...if he had speed. Talked to Miles yesterday. He told me he'd start the quarterback who gives this quality team the best chance for success.
Well. I tend to think Jennings is better than the bowl game. He was highly praised as a recruit. Harris does have a strong arm, but that is why Cam is getting big bucks.
You are certainly within your rights to think that. I see > 8 <10 -2.0 Nothing more, nothing less Hope I'm wrong!
I commented on the opener, not the season. I agree with your assessment though, certainly as it pertains to the season last year. For as much as Miles likes to develop players, QB development has always been a strange brew.
Les has never had a real job in the QB development, he's been OL coach at a couple stops, a OC, TE's and Head Coach. This is the OC/QBC, up till last year, Les has had one that was capable, Jimbo thats it.
