I agree. I would add that it also hurts us in another, less obvious way. Those "3 & Outs" that Jefferson is going to get during the game mean more plays on the field for the defense. Those extra plays are what cause the defense to wear down in the 2nd half. So in addition to the zero points, the turnovers, and the sacks he takes, his lack of productivity is also a drain on the defense as the game wears on. I really hope he starts Lee and minimizes Jefferson's role to short yardage. There is no need to have to lose a winnable game before we make this necessary change.
It very well could be 7-0 if Auburn gets the ball first regardless of who starts. I wonder if Miles is waiting on that scenario: A) Auburn gets the ball 1st we hold them - JJ Gets the 1st series B) LSU get the ball 1st and JJ gets the 1st series or C) Auburn gets the ball 1st, scores, goes up 7-0 and Lee gets the 1st series. hmm........
1)How about LSU gets it first and JJ goes deep to Toliver on first play. 2)How about LSU gets it first and Lee calls draw to Ridley 3) or Arburn gets it first Chief calls tight man and blitzs the rest.
I think the roof would blow off my house if this happened but how about A) Peterson takes the opening KO 93 yards for a touchdown It would probably get called back for holding B) Defense forces a turnover on the first 3 plays, or even snags a pick six!
Sacked after holding the ball for 5 seconds - sounds about right. Don't forget about option 2 - he could also hold the ball for 5 seconds and then take the intentional grounding penalty.
