I am going to guess Lee. I read the transcript from the latest Miles press conference, and he was vague on the subject. He said something to the effect that he is happy with the two QBs and he doesn't believe it matters who starts. Previously he said Jefferson would start, now he is saying it doesn't matter who starts. Reading between the lines, I think he will start Jarrett Lee. He also said he believes there is time for this to play itself out, which I read as Jefferson will play less and less unless he gets a lot better fast. I certainly hope my guess is right, because from what I understand Auburn's weakness is pass defense. To take advantage of a weak secondary we need Lee in the game. Miles has been incredibly slow IMO to make the move to Lee given Jefferson's consistently mediocre to poor QB play. Maybe he is finally ready to make the move we've all been waiting for.
I agree. Folks make fun of Miles a lot about not being very smart, or stubborn, but even he knows the deal here. Lee's gotta get 75%-80% of the reps.
I voted Lee, but I really can't fault your logic. Who knows what's going on under that white baseball cap. :milesmic:
Yeah, but what worries me is that he said things like "Our passing has to get better." Clearly, our passing IS better with #12 in the game. So when he says things like this, it sounds like he's saying that JJ needs to get better, and will continue playing so that he will have that opportunity. I also fail to believe that his dodging of the question entirely means that a change is coming. I think it simply means that he doesn't want to deal with the backlash of announcing that JJ is the starter again. He may actually be trying to prevent someone from kidnapping JJ before the team departs for the plains. I wish that I could get on board here and think that Lee was starting, but Miles has done nothing in the past for me to believe that he would be this assertive at this point. Also, please don't tell me that it doesn't matter who starts because of the shared playing time. That will not cut it this week. We HAVE to come out firing and scoring. We simply cannot afford to be playing catch-up against Auburn.
I won't try to tell you that. That argument doesn't work for me either. Against Auburn, we can't afford to waste any possessions with Jefferson at the helm. Against McNeese, we we already down 7-0 when Lee entered the game. Against Auburn, it could be 14-0 or worse if he starts Jefferson.
I voted Lee. Not really because I believe it, but I do believe in the power of positive thinking. Hoping beyond hope...
