I see all the posts & chatter about firing Miles, but has anyone even thought that when he finishes the season with 10 or more wins, not one person in the AD will even ponder the thought of firing him? Instead, they will still have to figure out who they will hire as our next coach after he leaves on his own. Miles is nuts. We all know this. But as much as many fans want him gone, there are a ton of programs who would love to have an insane man lead them to 10 wins a season. Look around the college landscape. Miles is a proven winner in the hardest conference in college football and he has the hardware to back it up. Why wouldn't a major program from a major conference come calling? And before you say his salary is prohibitive, there are lots of programs with pockets a lot deeper than LSU. There are also some things more important than money, and having a fan base backing you up may be worth a pay cut.
I think the most likely scenario is LSU allows his current contract to expire and lowballs Miles when it comes time to negotiate a new contract, at which point Les walks away and may or may not take a job elsewhere, even if another school were willing to meet his price. Not sure which choice that falls under here.
LSU can not fire CLM with his current record. No one worth a dayum would be stupid enough take that position once vacated. Crowton is the one who will have to go...then this subject would have to be re-visited in a couple of years.
This, I'm voting under the assumption that no major coaching staff shakeups happen until the end of Les' current contract.
+1. I think he fixes the problems he has and wins or at least plays for a couple more NC and everyone will love him again.:miles:
